Finally got two boxes of Hornady 200 Grain SST’s for the tree tuddy ate.
Got three boxes of Hornady 375 Ruger 270 Grain cartridges so I reckon I’ll be using that rifle more.

I understand what you’re saying.
I’m in the process of switching to all Mossberg. Both agencies I worked for used the Remington 870 so it made sense to stick to that at home.
Since I’m a lefty and no longer working corrections or law enforcement the Mossberg makes more sense for me.

Salmonchaser,
I’ll never forget the kindness and concern you showed me when I was in a very dark place.
If you ever need a sounding board, Devil’s Advocate, or friend let me know. It relieves me that God has continued to bless us with your presence.

“It likely wouldn't hurt to hit the barrel channel and action inlet with some poly spray or wax, but it's likely a "belt and suspenders" sort of approach. There's no need to put anything on the exterior of the stock at all, nothing you can apply is tougher than the factory finish.”

One thing I really like about the Guide Gun and Gunsite Scout is the adjustable fit feature.

Sitting with the Death’s Head I’d go 500 Yards, same as prone, but standing I’d limit to 350 Yards.
Standing with the Trigger Stick I might go 300 Yards depending on how I felt that day. I’d go 200 ish with the Trigger Stick any day.

My least favorite reloading task is the entire aspect of reloading.
Given the quality of many of today’s factory loads it’s much easier to find a factory load that will do for hunting at MOA or 3/4 MOA than it used to be. This saves me time so I can do other things.

Guy,
I hope you will look back on your trips with your dad with loving memories that bring peace, joy, and excitement all in one.
Who can’t get excited about fishing in the summer waiting for hunting season?

Nothing beats going prone but alas not possible always.
Standing I’ll take a Bog Pod or Trigger Stick every time if given the choice. If I was walking I’d opt for the Trigger Stick. If stationary I’d go with the Bog Pod and Death’s Head. My choices are based solely upon the weight of said...
