    Range day success!!

Buckbuster i used a max load of staball 6.5 for the 7-08. I had not had much luck with staball but I am learning that you have to pack the case to get the most out of it. Hunt for the 243 I used 43 gr of H100V with winchester large rifle primer and winchester full length sized brass. Max load...

    Range day success!!

Went out to test out some loads this week. Several of you commented on my previous post about trying staball 6.5 in the 243 for my son's compact rifle. That was a terrible start for me so to try and save components I decided to give H100V a try. BOOM!! Shot 4 rounds. After the fouler I got a...

Has anybody tried Staball 6.5 in 243?

Joe I did not have any pressure signs. I have also found that IMR 4831 is very consistent in several different calibers. In fact my wife's 243 loves IMR 4831 with 95 gr SST's.

Has anybody tried Staball 6.5 in 243?

The first attempt with Staball did not go well. My velocity average was 2754 and the 4 shot group was 4.3 inches!!!! I think I am going to try the 100v. My son's rifle is a Rem 700 compact with 18 inch barrel so I know I am going to be lower than the velocities provided by Jim. Thank you for...

Range Day With The Rem Mag Brothers

11 lbs of RL23 should have you set for a while. I bought 1 lb to try out a little while back and I am now half way through that jug. Finding more in these times will be very tough!

Has anybody tried Staball 6.5 in 243?

I am trying out staball 6.5 in my sons 243 with a 100 gr Partition to try and find a speedier load for upcoming deer season. Anyone else tried this powder out in 243? I had 3 powders in mind to try; IMR 4451, Staball and Hybrid 100V (I have plenty of all 3). The reason I want to get a little...

Range Day With The Rem Mag Brothers

Joe my 7 Mag loves R23!! The best velocities I have ever gotten in that rifle and the accuracy is great too!! I have a Tikka with 24 inch barrel and I can get 160 grainers to 3015 fps. I tried a 140 gr TTSX load with 65 gr of RL23 and was getting 3125 fps. I am sure you are pushing the same speed.

    7mm RM Quickload Request

Joe I have gotten excellent accuracy using IMR 4831 in my Tikka 7 Mag. For bullets to go with that powder I have 140gr SGK, 150,162gr ELDX, 150 gr Partitions, 120,140gr Nosler Ballistic tips. All of the aforementioned bullets shot sub moa with IMR 4831 in my rifle. I did not get the speeds with...

    Opinions?

I was at LGS this week and did see some primers. The price had dropped $10 per 1000 since about 2 months ago so that is a positive. The negative is that they were still $159 per 1000....

Scored some primers; anyone know how old they are?

I definitely plan to use them. In fact, I have 50 pieces of Nosler 7MM Rem mag brass that needs to be fire formed. I will probably use these primers and get some velocity testing done with the new brass.

Scored some primers; anyone know how old they are?

I was with my family at the in-laws yesterday and my father in law was going through some ammo boxes looking for some 20 ga trap loads to give to my son. He found a half full (in these times the box HAS to be half full) of CCI 250 large rifle magnum primers. Anyone have a guess as to how old...

Turkey hunting blind or no blind..

I love to hunt without a blind when I am alone. It is awesome to have a bird get in close and be face to face with him. However most of my hunts these days are with either a 5 or 7 yr old so the blind is a necessity.

    First turkey this morning!

My son was able to connect on a jake this morning. We hunted yesterday from 6am to 2:30 and my son did an awesome job of sitting in the blind. We had birds on the field all day long. So we decided to move the blind about 150 yards. That put us in the chips for this morning. Great morning that we...
