Thanks for th info! I've thought about doing a 6BRX but I really like the ease of the 6BR, just buy lapua brass, throw in 30grs Varget, put a 105 Hybrid 0.015" off the lands and shoot. I'll do 28" on my next barrel, research shows me you don't gain much velocity with this case past that. What...
Looks like you load 105 Hybrids, is that correct? If so, what velocity and barrel length do you get with your BRX? I get 2,870 with my 6BR and 27" barrel.
You will not regret the magneto. Best chrono I've used to date. I'd put 1000X more faith in it than an Oheler, from an engineering standpoint its brilliant. Just don't do load develop, met with it on your rifle.
I've got a lot of experience with the .300 and have tried about all the combo's out there. There are only handful I wouldn't go back to. While RL22 shoots amazingly well, I do not recommend it and I will not purchase it again. My personal temp sensitivity tests proved to be unacceptable in my...
Wasn't sure if they'd shoot or not based on what I've read but they seem to shoot just fine. Really hoping I can get the velocity up and smash one through a big bulls shoulder this fall. Took 10 years to draw this tag so I'm going to hold out for a big guy! Should be a great combo for across...
That's encourging. A friend of mine is frustrated with a 7mm Rem Mag and 168 ABLR's, he has only jumped them 0.040" though, I will tell him to try 0.100" jump.
0.100" jump seems to be the sweet spot for my rifle and this bullet. Really liking how they're shooting, gotta quit throwing a shot though! Gonna try bumping up the charge to gain a little more velocity, if the groups open up, I'll keep her where she's at and magneto chrono it! Load seems to be...
I agree completely. The fifth shot very well could of been me, I was getting pretty excited after the first three clustered so well. If like to get 2,900fps with it. I've easily gotten that with 210 and 215 Berger's, but I also have to seat the ABLR's MUCH deeper into the case than I did the...
Thank you for running that for me, Dr. Mike!
Scotty, I think I'm going to try .110" and .120" jump with the same charge and see if that tightens it up. After that, I'll use the depth that shoots the best and start bumping up the powder charge. I think I can tighten it up a little bit more...
Finally got a chance to try the 210 ABLR out of my .300, picked a mid level charge and decided to play with seating depth first, started at 0.050" jump and did 0.025" increments up to 0.100" jump. Had given up hope after the first two groups but the 0.100" load I was pleasantly surprised with...
Thanks Scotty! I think I'll keep this rifle a .300 win mag for life, but I've got a 7mm itch and am already pondering a .284 Win...need to get those 210 ABLR's loaded up and give them a try!
Here's a pic of the exits, looks like two exited in the same spot to me.
Had a chance to sneak out for about an hour, had an old style nozzle in a propane tank that I couldn't get off and needed some holes in it to dispose of it. Short range trip, but it's good to see the .300 still shoots those 215's nice and tight at distance. First round hit and about a 4-5" group...
PM with details of your experience and equipment and I will be more than happy to help any way I can. I've got several suspects and questions, your velocity should not be that far off. Also, if you are interested in long range shooting, I recommend highly in investing in this book...
