Just shot another match on Saturday and scored a 638-5X. I improved 51 points in standing with some dry firing practice and with my coat. The only stage that I didn't improve on was 300 yard prone rapid fire which I attribute to poor sling and body position. Next month is the Bayou state...
I changed my load from 155s to 175s for the 600 yard prone. This is a 5 shot group at a bit over 100 yards. It's about 2.5 inches wide. I think I jacked up my trigger squeeze for the shot on the left.
I love Lapua brass but that Winchester bulk brass is better than I thought it would be. It outlasted Hornady in my M1 and was several dollars cheaper per 50.
155s or 175s work great in a .308 but I think the 155s are the place to start. You can buy Nosler 155s by the thousand but 175s are...
Thanks guys.
The creedmore coat is awesome so far. The only complaint I have is the tapered cut isn't as tapered as I am. I hope to get out to the range tomorrow after work but I don't know if I'll get the chance.
I know I'm not ready but I'm signing up for an EIC match in October. My...
Hey guys,
I shot my third match in July. It was just an unofficial match since it was the same week as the national matches and scored a 554. It was the worst standing score I've shot so far but the best overall score.
I'm pretty pumped up for the next match. I finally got my creedmore...
Changing the springs is the armorers job. I never went to the unit armorer course but I really hope they cover that. How were yours jamming?
Thinking about how fun the SAW was changing my mind about getting a commercial version. I wish I had some action shots of me shooting the one I had in...
Sometimes the links don't eject like they should and the springs under the feed pawls can get weak pretty quickly. With the right maintenance they run like animals.
I just shot my first 80-shot Across the Course match today with my M1 today. It was a whole lot of fun. The wind was killer for off-hand and was blowing pretty hard whenever I wasn't in the pits.
I shot a 505. Need to order a couple thousand custom competitions and get out there and practice.
The SAW is a beast. I carried one for eight months in Iraq. I wouldn't mind owning a semi-auto version but I don't think it would be nearly as fun. It would be kind of like shooting a really heavy, belt-fed AR but would make you look much cooler.
Vltor might give you some problems if you skip shaving for a few days. I'm personally a fan of the standard carbine stock but the Magpul is great stock as well.
The ACE collapsible stock is great too but I don't know if it works with the standard buffer tube.
Thanks big rifle man. I'm going to be working on Fort Polk and will spend a lot of time in the field and since you're allowed to hunt there I will just take it as free scouting.
I just got the official notification this morning that I will be moving to Louisiana next summer. Has anyone hunted on or around Fort Polk?
How big do the deer get around there?
How's the hog hunting?
How the heck do you field dress a gator?
I'm not a swamp guy but I'm familiar with...
Take the time to thoroughly read the manual and get it set up right. Out of the box, you will have issues with powder spilling out of the cases when the shell plate snaps into position. There are a few things you can do to minimize this. The XL650 is a great press and you can make some...
I think the M4 is an excellent rifle, and a carefully assembled AR-15 cannot be rivaled by any other semi auto platform as far as a perfect blend of accuracy, damage, rifle and ammo weight, and parts compatibility.
As far as components are concerned, a geissele trigger, a magpul MOE stock, a...
Do any of you leftys have any experience with the stainless Tikkas? I'm naturally a lefty but have been shooting right handed for awhile but I'm looking to make the switch because my right shoulder is jacked.
