I am trying to figure this out.
Looks like the V3 will handle semiauto handguns, anything with a rail, and large muzzle diameters (mainly my muzzleloaders in my case).
Pretty steep price difference between the two.
Any input on reasons to get one over the other?
Thanks!
I've been working with my 270. It has a solid <1.5"@200yd 150 Ballistic Tip load. I swapped in the 150 Partition and played with seat depth.
I think I have some potential with this one. I have to verify it yet, but it looks promising.
The nice even triangle gives me a good feeling about it...
I was just shooting American Eagle ammo that they had on the shelf when I bought the pistol. Nothing special or interesting, lol.
I'll try to chrono it as I shoot more "serious" loads through it.
Sorry for resurrecting an ancient thread, but it seems the right place for this.
Didn't quite see it coming, but I now own a G40MOS.
Any good holster ideas? Especially one I could put on the waist belt of my pack...?
Brand new to the 10-mil, but I'm digging the G40 already. Gonna go make...
I always bring a "fun rifle" or three. I've been shooting my M1A a lot lately, but I'll take an M1 Garand, AR, 22, something I can use to occupy my time, plus 3-5 rifles I'm working on loads or something with, so each rifle gets a pretty generous cooling interval without me sitting waiting on it...
Something I got from Dave Petzel...
I put them barrel upright, bolt open. This makes a huge difference in speed of cooling. He claimed, and it makes sense....if the open muzzle is up, the rising heat from the interior can easily escape and facilitate cooling. If they're left horizontal, this is...
Albright is about 30 min from where I live.
PA cities are dark blue. Get out of them and it's generally pretty red.
Colleges and universities seem to be increasingly insulated from what the world outside them looks like.
I was very impressed with my Lowa Caminos out of the box, and if anything, the Tibets are even better.
I got the Tibet Hi. This could be my perfect hunting boot. Time will tell, but comfort and support and traction are all very good right out of the box. I think a set of SuperFeet and they're...
Speaking of boots....
Took the Tibets for their inaugural outing today. 7.6 miles and just over 900' of gain. Wasn't in the rocks real bad today, just some loose rock/gravel on some of the uphills and a little bit of glacia rock here and there, but nothing terrible.
They're gonna be great for...
The pack came today.
It fits wonderfully. I loaded up the same weight from the X2 from my last hike, so ballpark of 50lbs on the Pintler. Walked 5.3 miles with 980' of vertical gain (was up the mountain and back down, so I hit some pretty steep stretches), and it manages the weight like a...
Thank you, and that's exactly what I had in mind....if I ever need more gear capacity, to use a haul bag or dry bag in the overload shelf thing. That would really boost it's capacity. Not as much as the Metcalf or Marshall, obviously, but it would give me a pretty good boost over the 2500ci it...
I know. Hence my ownership of a 270 Winchester. ;)
Speaking of which, I need to make some loads to work seat depth on that one. And get some ammo out for the 300 Ouch and Ouch to go to the range this weekend.
Now, now...there's NO chance of my hillbilly fan club being invited anywhere, but there is a chance of a PA bull tag, and you know darn good and well I'll pull one this year when I already an elk hunt in the schedule.
And I'll go on both!
If you pull one of the roughly 20 tags they offer for...
That's probably a good trade off, Jim.
And as for PA elk, I'd need a spirit of some sort to get me a tag. They're HARD to get. Gotta be real lucky.... or have divine intervention.
48 years is longer than I've been....
Well, never mind. It's a long time. :)
23 miles on the bike last night. Probably run and lift tonight. Lots of ways to come home empty handed from my hunt this fall, but I'll do what I can to take conditioning off that list!
