Desert tech SRS A1 338 Lapua

I got a chance to get back to the range with the desert tech. The supressor made for a big improvement. After rezeroing I shot a few decent groups at 300 yards. 300gr accubond @ 2697fps with us869 in nosler brass. I think this will make a very good load for big game hunting. I might just...

    Sig cross 308

I had been planning on picking one of these up since I got rid of my 16” 308. I picked up a nightforce 2.5-10x32 expressly for the purpose several months ago. Killing time at the local sportsmans the temptation was too great. Took it to the range today and was impressed with the handling...

    416 Ruger 77

Finally got the ruger to the range. I still haven’t gotten a scope yet but thought I would like to make sure the open sights were on. The recoil was quite brisk but not unmanageable. I wouldn’t want to shoot too many from a bench but standing wasn’t too bad if you kept a tight grip on...

    Slippery Stock

Tape off a section you need traction on and use spray on bed liner. Just avoid 100% deet as it will melt Bedliner.

Desert tech SRS A1 338 Lapua

I got thread adapter for the SRS. Overal length with supressor is 46”. A much more manageable length than the 57” my MPR was. The balance is also improved with the supressor weight. Im looking forward to loading up some more ammo for it to get back to the range.

Model 70 Mount and Ring recommendations...

I really like the deadnutz ring/base combo for the m70. https://www.dnzproducts.com/product/game-reaper-winchester/

    M70 MOA trigger creep

I didn’t think trigger tech made a Winchester trigger?

    M70 MOA trigger creep

It’s hard to go wrong with the timney. I have one in my wife’s 270 featherweight, probably cost as much as a trip to the smith

Desert tech SRS A1 338 Lapua

I took the SRS out today. It dit not disappoint. My 300gr accubond loads didn’t shoot quite as good as they did I’m my MPR but still printed a pretty good group just under an inch at 100 yards. I had a few factory federal 300gr matchkings that shot very well. 3 inside a tiny little...

    .450 Marlin or .257 Roberts

The 458 2” is a pretty cool little cartridge. And you will never run out of brass options. I had one in a rem 600. It was a serious little thumper.

Desert tech SRS A1 338 Lapua

I have a bunch of 300gr accubonds from my MPR load. I’m hoping they will shoot as good in the SRS. I think that bullet will be a hammer on game

Desert tech SRS A1 338 Lapua

I picked up one of my bucket list rifles today. It is a Desert Tech SRS A1 with 26” 338 lapua barrel. It’s going to replace my Christensen MPR 338Lm. With the only 1” less barrel length at 39” the SRS IS MUCH shorter than my Christensen that was 50” long without the suppressor and 57”...

    416 Ruger 77

I picked up a ruger 77 in 416 ruger the other day. It cans in the hogue stock. The guy I got it from had taken it to Africa and used it a fair bit here in. Ak but just didn’t have need of anything this big any more. I found a takeoff ruger guide laminated stock on eBay that turned up to be...

.338 Win Mag to .416 Ruger

All this 416 ruger talk primed the pump and when I saw a ruger guide gun in 416 yesterday I jumped on it. Now I just need to figure out a different stock, I’m not a fan of the hogue overnolded stocks. I’m also torn on what optics to go with. The accupoint 1-4 was on my short list as...

Looking into putting together a 22LR for PRS

My long range rimfire is a tikka T1x in a KRG bravo chassis. I tipped it with a us optics t12 scope. They were having a really good sale in these at the time at euro optics. The optic had proven to be extremely reliable as to adjustment. The down side is the lack of a zero stop. It is...

    Bipods

If you want something light the spartan is the top true lightweight. If you want something more versatile for prs I would look to the thunderbeast bipod.

    6.8 Western?

Velocity used to be king. The faster and flat shooting a cartridge/bullet combination the easier it was to shoot longer ranges. As range finders became more available sheer velocity wasn’t as important. Characteristics like BC became more and more important. Bullet weights, lengths, and...

    6.8 Western?

The added head height by pushing the shoulder back allows you to seat the longer bullets out. You would need a longer action to get the same results in the 270 WSM. Just like they pushed the shoulder back on the 6.5CM vs the 260

    6.8 Western?

The 6.8 western is what the 270 WSM should have been. High BC bullets of 150gr+ at near magnum velocity in a 22” barreled short action. What’s not to like? All that and the quintessentially American .277 bore is all the better. I’m really happy that we are seeing some 270 wins on the...
