IMR 7828 does it all for me. I have been using RE22, and it is just about all gone. Less velocity out of the Weatherby with it, but I wanted to try something different, hence RE22. 7828 works great in the 25 06 and the Weatherby. If it works, why try and fix it?
I have been doing it for years. I use a torch, and they turn out great. You can use tempilstik until you get the feel of what you are doing. Saves a pile of cash on the high $$$$ cases.
I would opt for the 25 06. Nothing that I have shot with one needed a second. Extremely flat, deer are DRT and easy to load for, and it don't beat you up. Buddy that I load for uses his for moose and elk, and he sold his 7mm Rem mag when I turned him on to the 25. Calls it his "25 'O' Death"
I found a good load with the Re22 for mine, but the velocity is 200 fps slower than the IMR 7828. This is with the 140 grain bt. I can chrony the 140's at 3400 fps with the 7828, with no pressure signs at all, and very accurate. The best that I can do with the RE22 is just over 3200, and then it...
Very nice. I am a Weatherby nut, but I think that I could have forced myself to buy a Winchester, only because it is a 6.5x55. Congrats on the cool find.
I have found that IMR 7828 gives the greatest velocity. Reloader 22 gives excellent accuracy, but nowhere near the speed of the 7828. Best accuracy is at maximum.
