    At a loss for words...........

I dunno....you could have several Lever guns from Bighorn Armory for that money. I've owned enough Marlins to know that they aren't that special. Had to be some emotional connection to empty pockets for that Marlin. Not too long ago, Elmer Keiths private collection was sold. Many of those guns...

    .350 Legend Experience

Here's an article on the 350 Legend. https://www.gunsandammo.com/editorial/winchester-350-legend-cartridge/359189 The author talks about actually shooting deer. He also incorrectly stated that PA has straight wall case regulations. That part of the article is bogus as I am a PA Hunter. I know...

    Sent One Back

Did you try different scopes? I have a friend who worked for a barrel company. Most of the returns ended up with the root cause being scopes or mounts.

    55gr E-Tip

We just got my wife a Sako Finnlight II 22-250 for groundhogs. She was asking about using it for deer. These might work in that 14" twist.

    H322 powder?

I have 6 of 8 lbs of H322 left from two 6PPC rifles that I had. It was the go to powder for them and 68 to 70 gr flat base bullets. I've been using it in several 223's. It's a great metering powder.

    Bucket List

I would like to get my 7-08 140 AB tuned little better. But it may be pre-empted by a Howa 1500 6.5 CM. H-S stocks on both that are the favorite contour in my hand. I put a Timney on the Howa as the two-stage HACT trigger is not an adjustment that I can make. Depends on which one is humming on...

Did you buy that as a new or used rifle?

    NBT bullet length

My opinion is that 0.013" change in length is not enough to worry about. What could be a problem is that the ogive is different on these lots that far apart in production. You are using COAL as a benchmark for cartridge base to ogive which is fine if the bullet lots have the same ogive profile...

    Triggertech triggers.....

I had a Triggertech on a Cooper 22ML. Absolutely a great trigger. Had Rifle Basix on the Nosler 48. I can't recommend them. Great service but could not get the rough creep out. Most recently, replaced a Howa 1500 HACT with a Timney. Couldn't stand the two-stage in the HACT, although it was...

    whidden dies

I have a 308 F-TR rifle built by Jim Borden. He told me to tell Whidden to make the dies to his chamber print. That sizer is properly matched to the chamber for adequate but minimal sizing. After a half dozen FL cycles, you still can't see the case head line on the the brass. Trying to match...

    My Divorce From Nosler

Kimber rifles are a four letter word in my house. The really don't care about customer service. I've had great service from the pre-Remington Marlin and Ruger. I also give Cooper big Kudos. If you are at the Nosler price point, I suggest that you look at Cooper. Tikka is definitely a good...

    My Divorce From Nosler

This type of customer service a symptom of an organization in trouble. If there was a healthy culture in Nosler, this event would have never occurred. ....just my opinion as an outside observer.

New rifle advice - looking for a triple purpose rifle

I added a new caliber last March. Dies, bullets, and brass were still available then. Just addd a second 6.5 CM only to find components scarce. Some SRP brass but that's it. Invested in 308 and it's derivatives a long time ago. Expanded 308 brass inventory to make sure that I was covered for...

New rifle advice - looking for a triple purpose rifle

I suggest deciding on action length first, then caliber will be bounded. A wide range in bullet weight in a given caliber [55 to 100 in 6mm] is not optimum. Twist for the weights most desirable. In 243, a low of 80 to 100 gr for 10 twist, maybe 70 grs. Lots of choices. The 243 is very...

    No more "Outfitter" version?

Yah, one of my regrets is not snagging a 30-06 or 35 Whelen. My Heritage 7-08 was a good rifle. I always looked at the Outfitter as a great up close and personal rifle, in the hand, with a Vari-X 3, 1.5x5 mounted low in Talley QD's. My Heritage had a Rifle Basics trigger that I couldn't...

    Old School 30-06 loadings.

I have always liked the RN bullets for woods ranges. Shot a bunch of 100 gr Hornady in the 243 for deer before the better controlled expansion technologies emerged. Loaded 180 gr Sierras last fall for a 308 deer load. Purchased 300 160 6.5 RN Hornady's a couple years back for the 6.5CM. In fact...

    Benchrest

Informal club matches are great fun. Pretty much shoot what you have just to get into it. I am in the process of configuring my 308 F-T/R rifle to shoot in Varmint for score benchrest matches to 500 yards. The competition is shooting mostly full blown 6mm BR variants in regulation BR formats. My...

    Sako L61R in 7mm Mag

The L61's were never offered in the synthetic stocked version. That was the "Fiberclass" which would have been an A-series action. McMillan has two Sako stock patterns that both mode :?: led on the factory "Hunter" and Classic stock patterns. They both have checkerring and a textured black...
