    Load development for Rem-Hart_30-06

The search for accurate and potent hand loads for the Rem-Hart 30-06 has been somewhat challenging and I have many less than stellar targets that I will not bore you with, however I feel pretty good with the results shown in the following photos. This photos shows both 180 Accubonds and 180...

Rol_P's New Rem/Hart Rifle and factory loads

Now I know that if I miss an animal it will not be fault of the rifle... Dan watched me struggle for groups before coached me and the good groups came together. We tweaked the scope a bit and shot at 200 yards. It revealed that I need lots of practice before the season. None of my hand...

    30-06 straightforward hunting ammo

If I remember correctly some wild fella once said that a 30-06 with 165 grain pills were good medicine to most animals in the lower 48.. Does that ring a bell?  Hoping that my recollection is true as I have some strangely similar components in my inventory waiting to be...

    Eagle Walk, Columbia River

Very Cool Guy, thanks for sharing.. Seems like you were right with them.. what kind of camera are you using? My cell phone camera does okay, but my point and shoot Nikon digital extends the range nicely when I want to reach out a little more.

    New Toy

Nice looking rifle Rodger, sounds very economical to shoot also.. Even pellet arms are outlawed in the village of Geneseo NY... can't even use one to shoot a varmint raiding a bird feeder. Time to move on to more hospitable environs. Enjoy the new toy, Rol

375 Number One to the range!

My Ruger Number One in 30-06 just got fitted with the Pachmayer Decelerator slip on pad and what a difference it makes. When I was hunting deer in upstate NY with a shotgun I had a Luepold 1.5 - 5 scope mounted on the shotgun. That scope may end up on my Ruger Number One this fall.

    Thoughts on anealing (sp?).....

Cloverleaf, I am "thrifty" and want the extended life in my cases and improved accuracy, consistency in my reloads. Like you I use the 1/2" socket in my Dewalt battery powered drill to spin my cases in the flame while I count, one-one thousand, two one thousand.. and so on all the way to six...

    Two Rifles and two scopes

Thanks for the reminder Paul and I will keep an eye on the rib to see if there is any contact there as the barrel heats. I have a "Cresent eyebrow" from trying to use a rifle scope on a TC Encore pistol in .243 Winchester many years ago. My Number one was manufactured around 2002 or there...

    Two Rifles and two scopes

The project at hand is load development for my Ruger Number One in 30-06 with a 22" barrel and the soon to be picked up Rem-Hart left hand 30-06 with 24" barrel. It is nick named Rem-Hart because it was my Remington 700CDL which R.W. Hart in Nescopeck PA has re-barreled with a new Hart Barrel...

    Nosler Brass

Last evening I started to prep some new Nosler 30-06 cases for the first loading. There was an open box and a recently purchased box available. Upon weighing 10 cases from the new box I noticed a heavier weight, 192.9 grains, than I remembered from the last loading from the open box, 180.2...

    Left Handed M70

Computer Fits have delayed my posting, but I must tell everyone seeing this that I received an early morning phone call from Dan today, and I offered all the support and encouragement that I could muster at that early hour..to add this rifle to his meager collection. I am a few years...

Had to put down my dog today

Sorry for your loss Guy, Clark was a special family member for you and the family and will always be remembered. Loosing a great dog like Clark is among the hardest events to to go through. My wife and I have no children and our dogs were members of the family like Clark. You have done the...

    Montana Rifle Company Customer Service

Thanks for all the responses and suggestions Fellas. My MRC 30-06 is gone, traded in to cover part of the cost of rebarreling and restocking my Remington 700 in 30-06. R.W. Hart in Nescopeck PA is doing the work. My criteria is a lighter rifle that will shoot 1/2" or less @ 100 if I am on my...

    Montana Rifle Company Customer Service

Anyone had reason to contact Montana Rifle Company Customer Service recently, or not so recently? About two weeks ago I called inquiring about shedding some weight off my MRC ASR 30-06, with a walnut stock and a 24" barrel. The barrel is a heavier contour than my Remington 700 CDL 30-06 also...

    RCBS Chargemaster

Good luck with the new toy Guy.. I love mine, calibrate it each time I turn it on. One hint, and do not ask how I learned this, when putting the unit away, empty the powder reservoir and CLOSE THE GATE IMMEDIATELY If it is inadvertently left open you may end up with powder all over the next...

    expanding button or mandrel

Thank you all for this informative post... I am searching to rid my groups of fliers. 1 out of 3 or 2 out of five seems the norm for me. I am loading my 30-06 with 180 Partitions or Accubonds. I deprime the fired Nosler case in a separate step from sizing. Using a Redding Full length Sizing...
