Or you can put the Leupold on a rifle with with a known good load and see if it shoots. I've been working with a friends Browning in 300WM. It is really finicky when it comes to loads. It did not like RL22 at all.
As the owner and user of a #1AB in 7X57 I truly can understand how he feels about his rifle. Also have a #1B in 280 but it doesn't get the use that the 7X57 does. Other #1's that I would like to own are #1V in 22-250 and 300 Win and #1 medium sporter in 35 Whelen. I understand that the demand...
Since eggs are graded by weight, I wonder what this one would grade out as? It is the largest chicken egg that i've ever seen. A dozen of these might be worth the $4.99 a dozen they are charging in the store now!
High Standard produced many fine handguns. I used a Supermatic S101 to take many squirrels and raccoon, fox, and coyotes when I trapped for many years. My father always carried a High Standard revolver trapping. You are a lucky man to find what you wanted.
For the last few years I've been using Federal 3RD Degree blended loads. They pattern well out of my Browning A5 Hunter 12 gauge with .665 JEBS Headhunter choke and are deadly on birds. Your shotgun and choke combination and what loads it likes is going to drive your answer. The feedback you...
I trapped for many year here in Wisconsin and finally gave it up a couple of years ago. It is great to see that are taking pictures of your catch as each is a trophy in itself and each has a story. Love what you're doing!
The original post presented two options and I think either would be a good choice. It becomes a matter of personal preference. On my midrange rifles my preference scope is the Leupold 2.8-8x36. On my longer range rifles it is 3 power on the low and something above 8 on the high. Over the years...
My personal preference is an adjustable front rest and rear bag. But I have used a Champion rest, a range bag, and bags front and rear in the past with ok results
So much of the conversation has moved off the original topic that I am only going to say one more thing. We all want our bullet, powder, primer, etc. manufacturer's to put out their core products, new or old. I've signed up for most of their news letters and what I've received of late are offers...
We seen many good powders go by the way (e.g.; N205 and IMR4320). As a reloader we end up with maybe a pound or two of these on the shelf. If I have a rifle that is using one of these that is fine and I will use it until it is gone. If I don't, new load developement stops and it sits there. Who...
I recently purchased a Model 600 Magnum in 6.5mm Rem Mag. My question is, with their plastic trigger guard what should the guard screw torque setting be? I want to check it and don't want to over torque and possible crack it.
What a wonderfully looking rifle and a shooter! I've never owned a flintlock but enjoy my percussion immensely. the thing about muzzleloaders is to allow enough time after shooting to properly clean and it doesn't matter if you shot once or 10 times.
I made several of my own midified cases using my drill press, vise, and a set of wooden blocks to hold the the case while I drill the primer pocket. I made my blocks using two pieces of wood held in the vise and drilled with bit that will allow me to hold the case without deforming it. The whole...
These heavy bullets at a reasonable range should do the trick on deer and I have no doubt will take coyotes, bobcats, etc. What I question is how fur friendly they will be if you intend to sell your pelts.
I've had excellent results with the blemished brass and bullets that I've bought from SPS over the years. Can't say the same for the seconds that I have bought from Midway. I'm estimating that 15-20 bullets out of 100 aren't useable. Those 15-20 I was using for case forming until I switched to...
