    awsome Ruger customer service.

I really haven't used them much, considering how many Rugers I own. I did have a brand new Bearcat that was out of time. They paid the shipping both ways and had it back to me in a week.

Superformance & Hunter in 338 Win.

Hunter is one of my favorite powders, it is exceptional in my 6.5 Creedmoor and is showing decent accuracy in my 300 Win Mag.

    Remington 700 trigger

Yea that is a the trigger a friend is going with. It is very similar to the Trigger Tech, except for being a lot more money. I do like the two stage offering, TT doesn't have a two stage option.

    Nosler Customer Service

I never did contact them but I got a few boxes of .223 brass with chewed up mouths. They were a good price on SPS but they were labeled as over runs and came in the high dollar black boxes.

How concerned with weight variation are you?

So I'm now reviewing my Western Powders reloading guide and they used Win brass. Their loads are even higher than Nosler. I'm curious as to the various case weights out there.

How concerned with weight variation are you?

I haven't done any testing with the Nosler brass, it was picked up at the range. Its a good thing too, I'd really be scratching my head right now if I hadn't found out how much more this weighs than the data brass. So my FC test piece weighed 254.7 grains empty and 347.2 grains full, for 92.5...

How concerned with weight variation are you?

I had to tap the bolt open with a start load of RL17 today so I gotta figure something else out.

How concerned with weight variation are you?

Maybe I wasn't quite specific enough. How would you approach data developed for a significantly lighter case like in my example? Is it something people notice? I know some manuals don't give the test brass, and one of the nice features of Nosler 7/8 is that they do give H2O capacity (although...

How concerned with weight variation are you?

I'm not worried about the 1-2 grain variations, I'm concerned about the 30+ grain variation from test data. A friend is loading 7MM Weatherby and he has RP brass and Wby brass. The RP brass is 25 grains heavier. Start loads are pushing the limit in his gun.

How concerned with weight variation are you?

Most of my rifle reloading involves brass that doesn't weigh much different than the test brass in manuals. I am careful with military 308 brass which is heavier than commercial brass. I segregate that stuff. My 300 Win Mag project is a little more tricky though. My Nosler 8 manual has all...

    Remington 700 trigger

I won't pay my gunsmith to install it, the Trigger Techs come from Canada and are at least a month out plus whatever it takes to get over the border. http://www.triggertech.com/rem-700.html

    Remington 700 trigger

My gunsmith won't work on the new ones. He says the amount of work required is more labor than just buying a good one.

    Remington 700 trigger

I'm pretty used to the two stage Ruger trigger and I like those. The Trigger Tech has a roller bearing so it's supposed to be quite smooth. My gunsmith sells them for $165 so it's priced along with the Timney. I've used other Timneys and I like them. I think I'm going to try the Trigger Tech...

    Remington 700 trigger

My new Remington has a junk trigger and worst of all it is inconsistent in pull weight. My gunsmith likes and sells Trigger Tech triggers. I've also been looking at the Timney two stage. What do you guys like?

    Silencer on hunting rifles?

There are lots of designs so you can go pretty cheap and make your own. Look up some Form 1 designs. Also a SilencerCo Harvester is about $600 then your Form 4 is another $200. They are a perfect can for hunting use since they are very light.

    Brass age?

The various belted mags headspace on the belt, so yes chamber dimensions are quite varied.

    Silencer on hunting rifles?

It is definitely worth it. I used a suppressor on my 6.5 Creedmoor for this past years deer. The cost is high but its a one time thing. Current rifle suppressors are very durable, light, and versatile.

    Switching to 8-40 screws

Thanks Scott, I'll look into them. I'm not worried about the thread job, he is good at what he does and he has done several just like that for me in the past and they have all come out perfect.

    Switching to 8-40 screws

He put the whole barreled receiver in his lathe and cut the threads.

    Switching to 8-40 screws

Have any of you guys with heavy recoiling Rem 700s switched the scope base mounting from 6-32 to 8-40? I was at the gunsmith this morning getting my new 300 Win Mag threaded and he brought it up. To do the front one I'd have to remove the barrel. I thought about doing the rear 3 in 8-40 and...
