I don`t worry about a zero, I simply record the reading I get when measuring. The numbers are large, but I know what they represent and as long as they repete that`s all I care about.
BTW my 270 Win COL with comparator reads 3.70". This is the same no matter what bullet I load in it, and is ~...
This is part advertisment, part digital scale info. I found it a good read though and think anyone with a digital scale will find it interesting at the least..........

I agree 100%. I recently watched a guy swap out barrels on a Savage on our range. It took him maybe 5 minutes and that was including BS`ing his buddy while working.
The rifle was a 204 Ruger to start I can`t recall the cartridge he switched to but I do remember the rifle shot very well.
Actions...
I`ve no experiance with these guys but have heard a lot of happy reports with hunting rifles.

It looks like $300 for trueing, lug lapping, chambering and installing.
Barrels run $230+
You might ask for reports on them at the 24hr campfire forums. I`m sure...
Like the others said all barrels foul. Some do it quickly some can stand a bit more ammo down them. The big problem with fouling is accuracy can go to pot if it gets too bad. I would not worry too much about it as long as it takes a reasonable amount of shots to effect things, just clean well...
What is the exact inscription on the barrel designating the chambering? The maker should have stamped it on the left side near the reciever.
We need to know the chambering in order to give you safe advice.
I would have never tried to go over the Nosler listed max of 64.5 grains of H4350, but I called Hodgdon and asked them what they list as max. The man on the line said 63.0 is minimum and 67.0 is max
It sounds like a bit of expansion at the web/case wall junction [pressure ring for those who measure it]. The brass expands to fill the chamber and the web being solid doesn`t. The thinnest side of the case wall expands the most, that`s why it appears only on part of the case. I doubt it is...
Or, if your math isn`t up to it, measure from the inside of hole #1 to the outside of hole #2 (the 2 farthest apart)....No subtraction needed :?
Both methods will give you a "center to center" measurment...
The 1/8" is becoming the prefered twist today from what I hear others are useing. I have one on my Hart barrel 6.5x55 and it is a shooter.
The original 6.5 twist used by the Swedes and other early 6.5 military cartridges was 1/7.5" Remington when to a 1/9" with the 260 probably to help keep...
What are your velocities?
The speed you are getting will give you a hint at where you stand pressure wise. It isn`t cut in stone but, usually is a better clue then primers, extraction, ect......If you are near/at book max velocity you are probably at book max pressure for the same load.
Remington already has a 6.5 mag that fits a short action and has reintroduced ammo for it. Since there is good data available for the handloader and both are on the way out makeing brass iffy in the future why bother with a round that likely won`t do anything another won`t?
I agree with A.S...
If they are RCBS you might give them a call and see what they offer. They are real good about most things pertaining to their equipment and might fix you up cheap or for the price of shipping.
+1.
I put 25.5 gr Benchmark under both 53 gr Sierra HPs, and 55gr BTs or Sierras, and get very good accuracy and velocity. Varget shows a couple more FPS but hasn`t been as accurate for me until I get to 60gr & up bullet wgts.
Here are a couple sites with just about any type of target one could desire. The 1st link I`m sure has a woodchuck.......enjoy

I`d ask my B.I.L. what he uses for ammo, since he is the guns owner.
If it is a wildcat you will need to at least know the parent case before you can start, and if it is a factory rd (Winchester, WSM, Weatherby) brass and data is available most everywhere.
Hornadies new manual stops at 72 gr of IMR4350 with their 150 gr bullet. Nosler and Speers newest books show 74 and 73 gr max for the 150 gr bullet respectivly.
Personally I`d back off. The signs are all there the 76 gr load is too much.
