I tumble before sizing and removing primers. (No picking tumbling media out of primer pockets  ). One thing I like about clean and shinney cases is it is easier for these old eyes to see flaws, cracks, etc.

The groups I'm getting seem to be fine out to 250 yards (don't have any more distance to try). Will see if I can do some work on this rifle/load when I get out to Wyoming where I can shoot for 2-3 miles.
Thanks for the help thus far.

There are many very learned people on this board with much greater knowledge than I that may be able to shed light on my "pondering". Here's the sernio,
First, I do not have a chronograph. I got to wondering if there was a way to determine approximate velocity of a particular load WITHOUT...
I am in need of a Remington 700 drop magazine (clip) for a .270/.280/30.06)
This is the clip with the serated side releases on each side.
I ordered a new one from a Remington parts supplier over two months ago and it is still on "back order". I am leaving for my annual Wyoming hunting trip...
Not sure if this will transfer but someone sent this to me on "YouTube". If you go there and type in the headline, it should come up. It would make for one hell of a varmit rifle......
Put aside your girly-man .458 Win Mag or your wimpy .50 cal and watch guys shoot a real gun, the...
Looks like there is a lot of talent on here..
Me, I'm just a farm kid originally from Minnesota. Went into the U.S. Navy right out of highschool. After serving in the Navy (Radioman 1st) attended Univ. Wisconsin and received my BA in Mechanical Design Engineering. Married to the same gal for 53...
Same here. I also digital weight each case when it's filled and BEFORE seating the bullets (Yea, I'm a bit fussy). Doing this, I once caught a case with tumblng granuals stuck inside. Can't be too careful for me.
Well, after 53 years, I too am still a "dork". When that term is applied to my various endavors and enjoyment, I just use the following statement, "Don't start with me", which usually brings a smile and a hug. Works every time..., well almost every time. Enjoy it, she could have clobbered...
What are the physical differences between a Model 700 in 270 versus a Model 700, "XCR" in 300 WM? In particular I am speaking about fitting a 270 into a XCR, magnum stock? Both are BDL's and of course, long actions. Would there be a significant difference in barrel fit?
Wisconsinteacher......You might want to check out Greg Nolan's Nickon Buckmaster scope that he has listed in the "Classifieds". Great scope for half price of a new one.
I'd be interested in seeing the results as well. I'm currently working on a load for
140 gr AB's and was thinking of bumping up to a heavier bullet next.

Our group all got drawn for:
3, Any Deer
3, Antelope
1, Cow Elk Tag (mine)
Now all we have to do is get the rifles checked out, and wait for the seasons to start.
"Let the games begin"!!!!!!!!!
Care to share the way Doc cleans his rifles? I asked a question some time back about the "best" method used for cleaning a rifle and got several varrying responses. Perhaps Doc's way will confirm some of the other methods posted.
Thanks

Wyoming draws have been completed, no more waiting for me and my gang......

I'm/We are happy campers again. Can't wait till hunting season(s)........
I have been hunting Wyoming for many, many years...
This may be a dumb question but what would be considered out of spec when it comes to overall cartridge length?
For example, my Rem. 700, 7 mm Express (280) has a throat depth that allows for 3.350 OAL using Nosler 140 gr BT's and, there is still room to spare for increased length, before...
"Mountain caribou are a lot bigger than deer big bulls can go over 500 pounds on the hoof easy. That said they are pretty easy to kill you can't really go wrong in good 30-06 bullets anywhere from 150-200 gr spitzers will do well."...
I'm in agreement. I shot two mountain caribou a few years...
