This will probably stir up a bit of disagreement but I have been pondering, "who puts out the BEST reloading manual?"
Some reloading manuals are quite comprehensive while others just touch the surface. (Don't care to name those "marginal" manuals but there definitely IS a difference).

Can someone explain the theory about a loading practice called "Stoney Point". From what I understand, the theory is to load the bullet out to the extreme length, then back off by .020. Supposedly these type loads will not work in certain magazines. That's all I know about it and would be...
For what it's worth, I just returned from a Wyoming mule deer and elk hunt (no elk for me this year). The deer hunting went VERY WELL with 7 of us all filling our tags. I canvased all 7 hunters and found that 6 of the 7 were using ballistic tip bullets in calibers from 30-06, 308 to 300 Win...
Scotty:
I plan to use them as a few test rounds and compare them on paper with a similar load to see how they shoot. I do NOT plan to use them for hunting.
I recently opened a new box of Nosler PT's and found 6 bullets in the box with the lead tips slightly deformed. Looks like the may have been dropped. The box was in excellent condition. Never have seen that before.
I gently tapped then on a hard steel plate in an attempt to get them back...
Interesting. ANyone have a copy that can give that information?
THe latest (New 2nd addition) sells for around $40.00 so before I go ahead, I'd like to hear from someone that has one.
Got to thinking about this question related to another issue and wondered, has anyone ever run across a chart that specifies the physical grain size of various powders? Not that it is really important but I'm just curious.
I know there is a burn rate chart but wondered about the physical poder...
Not sure how I have lived to be 73 years old having eaten soooooooo many ducks, birds and game animals. My family (Grandpa, Dad and myself and also my kids) all hunters have been bringing home game shot with lead for years. "If it aint broke, don't fix it". So far, I don't see that it is...
TXBaldHunter.........I think you are close to answering the "case full" issue since I too was wondering why no one else had a similar problem when using 71 gr of 4350 in the new cases. I am going to try a different scale to compare with mine. I have an electronic scale used for commercial...
I'm talking about the 300 Win mag (not WSM).
I have some 4831 (similar to RL-22 in burn rate) that I am going to give a try. Since the Barnes bullets need a bit more space seated down in the short neck case (New Win cases by the way) I'll still have to seat them deeper to reach the proper OAL...
TXbaldhunter ..... Im loading "74 grs of IMR-4350"
Unless I am missing something, how are you getting that much 4350 into a 300 win mag case?
I almost fill the case with 71 grains of 4350. Infact, I use a small vibrating plate to "settle" the powder into the case so I can insert 165 gr...
I'd like to try 165 gr Barnes Triple Shock X bullets in a 300 Win mag case on elk this fall. Anyone have a good recipe?
With all the extra grooves in the Triple Shock bullets, OAL length with be an issue. Being a bit long, the bullets will need to be set deeper into the case than the...
I'm looking for a set of RCBS reloading dies for 300 H&H Mag. Must be a complete set and in good condition.
If you have any good 300 H&H brass to go with it, that would be a "plus"
Once again Nosler has shown it's "colors" as being a class operation.
Wear your shirt and hat with pride Scotty, knowing the people from America are behind all of you.
Please be safe and God's Blessing for you and all our military folks..

I've been using Nosler partitions for many, many years and not certain exactly when I started reloading them myself. About the time that Winchester offered their new Model 88 lever action, I bought one in .308 cal. and first hunted deer in Wyoming and Montana and found that mule deer were a bit...
Glad that all employees are safe. Properties can be repaired or replaced but lives cannot.
IMO, Nosler is a great and solid company that will come out of this only better for the experience.
I still have a pretty good supply of Nosler bullets. I'm stiicking with them.

Well, the VX1 scope is now mine and mounted on a Rem Model 700 in .308 cal. Haven't had a chance to burn up any power just yet but have a few rounds ready to give it a look see.
The scope looks pretty spiffy on that shooter and hopefully will do well for me.
I posed the same question directly to Leupold and here's what their rep Sean Hunter had to say..........
"The current VX-I is the same quality as the older Vari-X II scopes used to be. The current VX-II scopes are what the older Vari-X III scopes used to be. The difference is in light/color...
A friend has a Leupold 4-12, 40mm, VX1 that he wishes to sell and I am getting very "tempted". The scope was a gift but he claims he wants something "nicer". (By that he means "pricy" as his tastes often exceed his ability to spend).
I am seriously thinking of buying that scope (it's still...
