Behind every riflecartridge is a history that in time tell in what times it was developed or who used it in that time.
The .270Winchester has written Jack O all over it...and it´s still used with great succes.
The .375 H&H has written "Africa" all over it along with a great Gun Company in...
..I still regret I didn´t pickup that 6,5x55 M70 that was on auction last year. I am glad somebody like NVBroncrider actually does something about it and just don´t sit there and do nothin´.....:LOL
I had a nice.416Rigby I sold because I went about to a .378Wea. I just fell in love the .375cal rifle on first "sight".
From 200grain Impala bullet screaming @ 3600 ft/sec to 380grain Rhinos at thundering 2550 ft/sec .Topload done in my friends .378Wea rifle was 3020 ft/sec with 300grain FN GS...

As stated earlier in other posts i´ve always liked vintage American cartridges & guns. Other Remington cartridges that ought to see daylight is the 32, 30 and 25 Remington.
Remington rifles...
The 6,5x68 Schüler was never loaded to its thrue potential. If one compare it the ballistics of a .270Win they are identical...but the Schüler cartridge has more casevolume than a .270Weatherby.
Original 6,5x68s were made with a 1:11 twist which roughly can shoot a 124grain bullet and no more...
Thanks Guys....and thank you for sharing too.
That Jarret barreled rifle look sharp. I have an artical laying around somewhere with a beanfield rifle done my Jarret. I believe that was a 7mm stw.
I guess my next book is from Bob
Have a good weekend in the us of A
Here it...
I`ve always been a "rifleman". I guess it all started when I was a little boy too reading cheap Western dime novels. Later that evolved to sixguns and sixgunshootin´. Never had a pistol never wanted one either.
I have had a leveractionen rifle since I was in the late 14s and actually sold my...
The 300grain FN solid is a real killer from a .378Weatherby Magnum. A friend of mine had up and go to 930 m/sec(3050 ft/sec) and no sign of too much presssure. Penetrated over 80cm hardwood(beechwood) and still didn´t stop.
For Buffalo I might use 260grain HV but the 300grain FN Solid could be...
I would say the Woodleigh SoftPoints are fine for lightskin animals. Keep the velocity specs suggested by the maker. I will be loading 300grain softpoints here the next week for my .333Jeffery. Max velocity will be about 2280 ft/sec.
In an opcomming Buffalohunt next year my .378Wea will use GS...
How could I have overlooked This thread?.
Thanks Scotty for sharing your results. I have Always been a fan of Charles Newton and his cartridges. The .35cal was among the better ones.
Do you have the book by Bruce Jennings" Newton, the father of high velocity"?. If you don't have it go...
I have had a true magnumMauser .416 Rigby for several years and therefore can speak of the virtues the .416Rigby has..and Drawbacks too.
The .416Rigby caliber is not a stoprifle..even if pumped to .416Weatherby. The Magnum Mauser takes a longer pull to recycle for NeXT cartridge.
If one only...
Point on!.
A minut-of-handspread at 100yards or minut-of-dinnerplate at 150yards seems to be the norm for blackpowder Express doublerifles..some might do a slight better.
When writing this I would say(claim) we here today in modern time have acces to a much larger variety of reloading...
All this this stuff isn´t just going on in your country. Most politicians overhere are willing to annul our constitution in favor to EU(EEC).
Signs of time my friends..towards one World government. Almost biblical..if not!.
