Well after a kinda crappy week at work , Guy inspired me to get out with the coyote rifle. I started this morning by finishing off reloading some more 243 win fodder. I had the Remington brass prepped and had seated the primers about a week ago, I topped them off with a nice load of RL-15...
Sometimes the beauty of hunting is that surge after a great shot, especially with coyotes. I've missed more then my fair share of second chances at a double . Only tip I have is if the other yote never bolted at the first shot or stopped at ki-yi take that 10 or 15 second pause to make the...
Guy , I know you don't really like the idea of the left coast telling you a mono metal is a must. ( trust me I like options on what I chamber as much as the next guy) but I would like to see you run a 100gr ttsx or a 90 GMX thru a couple of pelts and compare them to a standard varmint bullet...
Well they aren't Swaros' but my Dad just bought a set of Steiner Predators 10x42's . A step up from my Nikon and Redfields. If your in Cabelas check them out.

I'm using 10x42 Nikon binos and a crf 1200 lecia range finder.
I like having both, the 7x monocular in the Leica is good but not the same as a bino. I have ranged coyotes out to 700 yards with it and that is no easy feat.

I thought last year someone here on the forum got a box of Etips with a relief groove in them? I am just curious if that was a one off, or has Nosler addressed some of the pressure issues with the Etip.
I would like to test the 90 gr if I could find a box or two with a relief groove.

For a simple , reliable and overall do everything optic the 6x42 leupold is hard to beat. There is more then one person using them in the mountains and for overall hunting a good friend of mine included.
Binos are a different story , you don't want anything real heavy but still need crisp clear...
35 Whelan. Do you make meatcicles for your bait?
We have in the past I take it a step further and bring a couple gallons of warm water and scrape off the ice and freeze the meatcicle to it so they can't grab the bait and run.

Well day 3 came and went with no deer tagged by us.
For as terrible the weather was by noon it was a balmy -17 and just a light breeze.
We put some miles on the boots and seen a lot of good country, the deer just weren't going to cooperate.
The terrain.
We seen several of these, no tags so...
Did you put a tape to him hank?? Great bull , I'm always curious how close my guesstimates are from looking at a pic or field judging.
So too me looks like a 6x6, decent beam length, good mass, with good tine length aswell.. I'm thinking 330-345 B&C there abouts.

It's a good thing the carbon tax doesn't kick in for a few weeks for us here!!! Cause I'm letting my Duramax run all day. Lol. Started it at 5:15 to leave by 6. Seats are hard as a rock, whomever invented heated seats should be up for saint hood.
This is the last go for us hoping we can...
Hey no time like the present will be waiting for more spectacular pics of a hunt and hopefully a cow elk with the air let out if her!
