Way under gunned. This minimalist nonsense needs to stop. Respect our game animals and pack a .44 mag , .454 Casual with heavy, stoutly constructed bullets.
The very early production XTP bullets did not expand well at handgun velocities. We stuck with the Kieth style cast bullets with great success. Things have improved obviously.
Big business, i.e. box stores...Wallyworld, Lowes, AutoZone, etc. It's all from Asia. China primarily. I bought $900 fly rods from US companies, just like you did Danner boots. Good quality! It's a very small percentage of consumer expenditure. Quality is not paramount for the most companies...

Where you and I shop is irrelevant. Point is Most US business buy from China. Wellywood is likely the largest retailer in the country. Its good that you buy from US suppliers. Big business could care less.
Vista outdoors is like most American businesses, They move overseas or buy from there. Many items we buy in Walmart are made in China. More profit, plain and simple.
I push a 210 grain in my S/W .44 Mag at just under 1,500 FPS and the leading it not bad. great Wild hog load! The alloy I used for bullet casting was rather hard. Can't recall it's number on the Brinell scale however.
My buddy's 760 .270 shot 1.5" groups with Rem 130 Cor-Locts in factory fodder. His shooting style was to whip his head back quickly to avoid getting whacked by the ocular lense of the Charles Daily scope. Comical to watch. But it woked for him.
Absolutely clean it! My friends 30-06 was grouping like a shotgun. I cleaned it with the outers cop-out system. Worked up load that groups under an inch. Scrub that barrel. Make sure the screws are tight.
