I have been meaning to post pics since Nov. just never got to it. Ya I usually dont like pulling the trigger at the beginning of the season, but I couldn't pass that one up. I was also happy the front loader went off as you can tell in the pic it was a lil wet n cold out.
http://www.trackofthewolf.com/List/Item.aspx/638/1 found they sell barrel liners for muzzleloaders- does anyone know a gunsmith in Oregon that would do this type of work?
So I picked up a thunderhawk 50 cal, the barrel is badly pitted and barely can see the rifling. When I got it is was very dirty. It is beautiful on the outside after cleaning it up, inside the barrel is ugly. At 25 yards its doesnt group on a piece of 3'x3' cardboard. I plan to take it out one...
Thebear_78 Especially when paired with the right reticle like a german #4 or my favorite close range reticle the german #1 post.
Like the way you think Thebear_78. I have a leupold 2-7 with german post #2 on my whelen. its my favorite reticle. Wish Premier Reticle still did work on Leupolds...
458 45-70 350-400 grn partition
original 45 grn solid base bullet for 22 hornet( I'm down to 3 boxes)
would like a 200-220 grn round nose AB bullet for 35 rem, 358, 356, "35 whelen"- for deer
and for guys with 348's make them a bullet
I got it yesterday and started scrubbing on the barrel, beautiful on the outside, but I'm afraid it is pitted on the inside. I can kinda see rifling. Only paid 80.00 so not out a lot. Any trick to clean the barrel up? Anyone ever mount a peep sight on one of these?
