I enjoyed my 8 but got frustrated by the lack of good bullets. Turned it into a 338 Jarrett. Still killing elk some 20 years later. It remains however one of the projects, if I could go back in time, I would not have done. The big 8 punched way above it’s weight class.
Vince, Catherine and I have recently adopted the philosophy we were only given 80 summers. I’ll be 70 come elk camp. She’ll turn 67 at deer camp this year. We are done saying “maybe next year or the year after”. Regardless any dire prognosis, we hope you don’t have one, we applaud you getting it...
I didn’t have much trouble flying from PDX or SeaTac to Anchorage every year. Anchorage back was easier than going up, probably do to familiarity with the process. I have run into ammo in separate bag or in the gun box several times. It just kinda depends on the agent I think. It was actually...
I only know one friend using the Bond strike, he killed two cows and a rag horn bull last year. Two with an 06, one with a 300wsm. All 180 gr. The bull was at 30 yards while he was eating lunch at his warming fire. One cow was at 250 the other was at 400. He also commented on questionable...
I don’t know the programs they use now but there has to be a good one out there. We were using a system back in the early 90s that did that but you really had to proof read your reports as every little um, back ground noise or W.T.F. Is that guy doing comment while you were dictating would be in...
What I don’t doubt such regulation might prevent some otherwise law abiding citizen from committing a gun crime doubt it‘ does anything for the criminals committing gun crime, so then what? We are fighting the same regulations in Oregon so far we have kept it hung up in court for two years. The...
If they have been raised in a large pen where they actually have room to fly, then they will want to and be able to do so. They will probably hold very tight for the pointers. Gentleman Bob love cover, pine forest and the like. They will tend to jump up about six feet and fly a very short...
Major Anthony Oliver, Ranger, my brother in law. Lance Corporal Danny Lynch my cousin, Florant Groburger, Capt US Army. CMH for his actions when Catherine’s team came under attack in Afganistan. These are the men I think about on Veterans Day and Memorial Day. They each had a great impact on my...
Good looking mutts. Kinda partial to the GSP myself. I agree on the 470, an impressive cartridge. I owned a 577 for a while, it garnered quite a bit of attention when it went off.
