It will work just fine. Years ago I shot a WT buck with a Remington 150 gr SPCL (30-30) bullet from a 30-06. He was quartering towards me, he reared up and over DRT. I found the bullet jacket under the hide on the off side. The lungs were liquidified. JD338

Guy, That K14 is a sweet shooter. It looks very similar to my K22 22 LR that my Grandfather gave me many years ago. You are going to really enjoy your Simply Rugged holster. I have one, with the chesty puller for my 629 3". JD338

I moved this thread to the Reloading Section. The 170 gr PT has as thinner jacket to work at 30-30 velocities. The PT design allows it to hold together and work at the higher speeds of the 30-06. Welcome to the forum. JD338

I have a Nosler M21 in 375 H&H Mag. I shot a big doe with the Speer 270 gr SPBT at 2700 fps. It double lunged her and she went about 40 yards leaving a red carpet on top of the snow. I've also used the Barnes 250 gr TTSX at 2800 fps and the Nosler 260 gr E-Tip at 2750 fps to take WT deer from 50...
