Guy

Thank you all for thinking of us. 2025 was a very difficult year for us emotionally. My wife and I had careers there. Friends. We raised our sons there. Washington left us. It went crazy full-tilt lefty. We couldn't be part of that. I'd been pushing to leave for about ten years, finally after the elections a bit over a year ago Mama told me "We have to get out of here." Well, yes, but after 30 years, that's easier said than done. We made it happen at great expense of money and sweat. Our sons were already in the midwest, one nearly in Canada, the other near Mexico. We landed in Oklahoma where I knew a few people and rather liked the place. It's a breath of fresh air after Washington. Kinda flat... and I do love mountains, but we're okay. For the first time ever we own our home outright. That's huge. It's a nicer home too. A bit smaller, but that's okay, there are only two of us. One son has visited twice, the other is too busy trying to make a living. He'll be here eventually.

My daily routine is to rise early, workout, make coffee, walk the dog a couple of miles. Then home to have breakfast with my wonderful wife and move on with the day. For several months that meant settling in here... A lot more work than I anticipated. It used to be easy to move. Not anymore. We had too much stuff! That's largely done with and we're enjoying being Okies.

I belong to two gun clubs now. One is 10 minutes away and has a 25 yard indoor range. Love it! Am shooting there once or twice a week and my handgun skills are coming back! The other is a small, really nice rifle range club with a small pistol range too.

Resorted to high-fence hunting this fall as I had no time to scout public land and hadn't met anyone willing to let me hunt their property except my pastor. I may take him up on that sometime soon. Three shots resulted in two hogs and an axis deer. All the meat has been delicious.

I'm okay. Older. Heart isn't what it was. Working out regularly. Writing a bit on my Substack blog.

Hope everyone here had a great season and is doing well.

Regards, Guy

Guy- I Understand missing the mountains....I miss the Flat! I'm a not so successful transplant to the big city.... Definitely understand the angst that "politics" brings. There is some really pretty hill country in OK if I recall correctly. Glad to hear that you are ok and encouraged to know that you and your wife are in good partnership. If you have that, the rest will work out. Join us when you can! CL

Glad to hear that all is well Guy, and that you and your wife are adjusting to your big move!
Looking forward to your future posts and pics!
