Was outfor 4hrs this morning. This was my best fish... 14lber....here in Maine we call Lakers by their native name......" Togue". Which translates into "Grey Trout"......
Well gun came in and the action is fine...... I was pretty disappointed the wood was NOT what I was expecting......
Called the rep and he apologized all over himself. Says he will go down tomorrow and pick a stock with some figure and ship it right out.......... so I guess I can't ask for more...
Over the years we guided Sheep hunters in the Brooks Range, the .243 was always a top performer on Rams with lots of instantaneously kills. You really couldn't ask for better sheep caliber. But I realize most folks today think you need a Howitzer........
I realized I forgot to comment on trigger pull right of the box, was 2lb 14oz with NO creap....
My Superlite I bought last July came thru at 4.5lbs ....which I had to adjusted down to 3lbs before I ever shot it. It shoots fine for hunting 1.25" with factory Hornady ammo, but is not in bussiness...
Two huge issues with these Howas for me, the 3 position Safety is a feature I really wanted having lugged Model 70's around most of my life. And compared to the Tikkas with their 3 shot clips...... these hold 5 ( plus one) so no need to fool around looking for your spare clip.
Plus there is...
Tnx to all. I will give it a good review after I see how it shoots with the Walnut stock. But will of course try it in the Boyd's Laminated stock as well and post the groups with standard factory 100gr/ 243 loads. These guns are NOT lite being all steel, they are 7 1/4- 7 3/8 as they come out of...
Brand new for 2024, I noticed this new model has just become available. So I decided to sell my old 243 TC Venture and upgrade to another Howa! Looking forward to seeing how it shoots! I already have a Boyds laminated stock that fits it if I decide to hunt it and not ding up the Turkish...
Well for what's left out there; that is affordable to shoot, the 223 is about the last surviving caliber......... I was able to buy 20 boxes of 55gr PMC Bronze few weeks ago for $150 including free shipping. My Howa has an 8 twist barrel so it won't quite shoot moa with the 55gr bullets but...
Ok scope is in: It is very Zeiss Conquestie......
Very similar optics, razor sharp eye box right to the edges. Certainly comparable to VX3 Leupold in many ways. The click of turrets is NOT like a Nightforce......lol. So if your big into dailing and already wearing a hearing aid this may not be...
This particular model is Assembled in Portugal, I ordered one from Doug last week, So will put it up Against some of my older Ziess stuff, some Leupold VX6, Vx5 and Vx3 stuff I have an do an honest review of what I see........
Stay tuned......

I grabbed a new Howa 223 with what looks like a Boyd's laminated stock. And am very pleased with it. It has a 1/8 twist 22" barrel. It is quite accurate with 69 grain Hpbt bullets.
See grouping at 100 yds.... 3shots from cold barrel. I also purchased a Weatherby Vanguard composite stock for...
After 40 years of using a .270 Winchester for Big Northern Whitetails, I had toyed with the idea of a .280. The 7mm bullet selection is vast compared to .277. When I saw the new Howa Superlite introduced last year at 4 1/2 lbs, I decided to try one in 7mm08! Toped it off with a Zeiss 3x9 , so...
After a little research I found DOZENS of complaints on the net on these birds and their " shipping scams". Here are just 2 pages but there is lots more........ If you get involved with these folks you will be sorry!
Here is their reply about all this!
Honestly, we don’t care about your review. You were a complete ass to our customer service rep. You made a mistake and placed two orders and we shipped two orders. Your review and posts mean nothing to us, because this was not our fault. Be sure to send us...
