When I got my 338RUM, Graf & Son had primed Federal nickle 338RUM brass, so I bought about 300 of that. 6-7 years later no Fed nickle 338RUM to be found, so I choke a little on the price & order 100 pieces of Nosler 338 RUM 2nds.
Adding to the already great load info, these are the load recipes I have for my 30-06 Weatherby Vanguard Sporter:
Bullet: 180AB
Powder: 55.5gn of H414
Primer: Fed GM210M
Brass: Nosler trimmed to 2.48"
COL: 3.39" measure from tip to base
Average velocity: 2823fps
Load development target at 100M...
I started hunting in '03 with a hand-me down Savage M99 in 300 Savage - got my first hog with it. The first rifle I ever bought was a Win M70 270WSM at the Lompoc, CA Wal-Mart almost 12 years ago. I still have both of these, but I pretty much don't use the M99 any more.
I 2nd Scotty. My 300RUM loves the 200AB pushed by 95gn of Retumbo with a COL (tip to base) of 3.635". I also use Fed GM215M primers and Rem brass trimmed to 2.83". I get around 3140fps average.
Good luck finding brass. I'm pretty sure you can order 200ABs from Cabela's though.
Mine really...
Fortunately, I started building up my reserves when the last (did it ever end) dry spell hit around 2004 or 2005.
Now I've bought some 2nds from SPS here and there, bought some powder in the last week or so, and scored on 100 pieces of 375RUM brass last week, but for the most part, I've got...
Just curious, how much ammo do you have loaded for each rifle caliber/bullet combination????
When I say caliber/bullet combo, I mean like my 338RUM I have 50 rounds of 250AB & 50 rounds of 200ET loaded.
I'm bored and have been out in the garage getting all my brass cleaned and prepped, loaded...
I loaded some 7RM for a young man a few years ago. I gave him two choices for loads, both were either MOA or Sub-MOA, I don't remember right now, but here's the two load recipes.
Brass & trim Powder & Charge Primer Bullet OAL (base-to-tip)
