With the Nosler 240gr JHP 23grs of H110 gives me mid 1100 fps. With a little different bullet profile of the Winchester’s I opted for Nosler’s starting load of 22.8 grs , I’m guessing 1100 fps. The barrel is a 4” ported so velocity is lower.
With the snow yesterday couldn’t do much outside today. Dug out some old Winchester 240s my brother gave me some time back. I stuffed them on top of 22.8grs of H110. Ready to roll come spring.
Without the cartridge known for the rifle , I would say 50% reduction. I have several of Nathan’s MBM brakes and do a really good job of taming big magnums versus the radial brakes.
A No-Go gauge would rule out your rifle. Being factory loaded ammo shoots fine I’m thinking the Win. brass is your problem. If the brass came in a red and black Winchester bag , that stuff is awful when it comes ti quality.
This is what Hornady’s LnL bushing press does. You thread your die into a bushing that has an o-ring under the bushing flange and lock it into the press. I’ve been using these for years and wether or not it helps I’m not sure.
Both will easily do the job. What range are you looking to hunt at? For me if the 4 boxes of the 180s are the same lot would be my choice , load and go without worries of another load work up.
I tried this 800 grit cylinder hone today. It did help 3 drop right out 1 hangs up a little and 1 needs to be pulled out. This is way better , I’ll have to mark the cylinder the next time to see if the same hole is the issue.
