The coating on the CT BT's isn't moly. It's what Winchester calls Lubalox. Remember Lubaloy in the 70's? I don't think it makes a difference one way or the other. Personally, I think it was just a marketing ploy to make those Darth Vader looking Winchester Supreme rounds look cool, black and...
A 5 gun battery isn't bad if you are able to focus on actual intended use and not how much fun they are or how emotionally attached we are to them.
For me, I chose from what I currently own, sorry 270WSM, even though you are my favorite, you didn't make the list. :
Rem 700 SS 300SAUM...
I believe the Elite series are made by Light Optical Works in Japan, as were the B&L. They still make many items for many companies.

My Gre-Tan is the same way. It's just tighter tolerances and a stiffer spring. I can no longer lift the bolt with just my index finger, but that's ok. It will losen up some with use, but I don't think it will get back to the factory feeling.
The Gre-Tan I have on my 300 SAUM is a little stiffer on the bolt lift than the factory issue. This is normal with a better quality spring and tighter tolerences on the machined parts. Mine did ease up some with use, but is still stiffer than the factory J-Lock.
When installing it, if you let...
B&L won't have their name on anything "gun" related. I'll try to dig up the resource, but it was a case review from a business law class I took where we broke down details of contracts.
I would be fine if they just put Light Optical Works on the box. I'd call it the LOW Light Vision.
If you use a kinetic bullet puller, try using a shell holder instead of the fragile factory rubber-banded bushing. All you have to watch for is gravity if the open end of the shell holder is facing downward.
I use a press-mounted collet-style puller and like it much better.
I quit using I-4350 in my 280 because accuracy went south as the tempurature dropped below 40 or so. With that, I think that we take sample data of one and try to extapolate a powder as temperature sensitive or not. How do we know it isn't that particular rifle or that rifle with that...
I have a Gre-Tan on a M700 300 SAUM, and it has been very reliable. It didn't improve the accuracy over the factory J-Lock system, but it sure is built well. You can't go wrong with any that you listed, but I would opt for either the Gre-Tan or the PTG. They sure are easy to install...
The 270WSM instantly became a favorite of mine, even back when published load data was non-existent. What I find funny about this is that I've never been a huge fan of the 270 win, for no particular reason. The 270WSM is truly a premiere all-around big-game cartridge. Loaded with the 130gr...
I finally got the M70 270WSM scoped with a VX-II 3-9x40 LR. I have a ton of load data for the several 270WSM's I've owned or loaded for, so this was just an attempt to see what RL-17 did in this particular rifle. I use RL-17 in the 300SAUM and the 300WSM primarily, so I wanted to see if I...
I'm itching to get out there myself. I'm trying to get a 300WSM M70 Extreme Weather, 700 BDL SS 300 SAUM, X-Bolt SS 270WSM, and this M70 Classic Sporter 270WSM to digest RL-17 with acceptable accuracy. The two 300's performed very well. If the 270's do half as good, I'm golden!
With Leupold doing a redesign of the VX-I and VX-II series, and dropping the Rifleman, many retailers have been discounting existing inventory. While the discounts online haven't been what I consider to be tempting or irresistible, the local Sportsman's Warehouse has some decent buys.
I...
I tried Retumbo in the very early days of the 270WSM, before published data was available, and it shot very well with a 69.3gr charge with a 150gr Sierra GameKing. Once Magpro hit the shelves, I never re-visited Retumbo or 150gr bullets in the 270WSM. The 140gr Accubond at <3200fps is a...
I make a habit of taking a big game hunting rifle out on coyote calling ventures. Even though I have a dedicated 223 for the task, it's really fun taking smaller animals with the "big guns." This weekend, a friend and I are planning on taking out the 300 shorts, his a WSM, mine a SAUM, to see...
