243 Win 95gr Partition loads?

Just picked up a box of 95gr Partitions for my 243. Can anyone point me in a good direction to start? Im gettin tired of all this loadin up test loads! I want to get out and shoot but the weather/wind has been nuts around here. I absolutely cannot wait for spring and summer.

45-47 gr of IMR 7828 is max pending on rifle. Accuracy tends to be great and velocity is between 3050-3250 pending on rifle.

+1, great powder for the 243. The SSC version fits in the case a little bit better, too.

I realize this isn't a sizzling load but my son's Savage 10 likes the 95 gr Nosler Partition over 39.6 gr of RL17. COl is 2.676 which is .020 off the lands. Velocity right at 2,830 fps, ES of 6, SD of 3, with a 0.625 five shot group at 100 yards. Recoil was mild. Groups started to open back up at 39.9 gr but started to get tighter again at 40.2 gr. I plan to continue with 40.5 gr, 40.8 gr and 41.1 gr to see if the groups tighten back up. 40.8 gr is the published max for a 100 gr bullet but you should always work loads up in your rifle.

Same here. 7828 and RL19 have worked well for me in the 243 with 95-100gr PTs and BTs. I would also look at Hybrid 100V. Seems like it shoots well in a few different 243's I know of.

We have had good luck with WW760 for high vel and low preasures. Seam to be produce very good accuracy for us! Runs thru the powder measure better than just about any other powder and is reasonable in price? Might want to try 43grs of it sometime and see what it does in your gun? I think you may be surprised! Now that be over max in someones mind or modern book they own so dont want to startle anybody that "goes by the book" . As I have mentioned before on here almost every good load we use is over max in "somebodys book".

What MV were you getting with IMR4350? I have some H4350 I'm thinking of trying.

Never clocked this load. I would guess the M70 XTR 22" barrel was pushing it along at 2950ish fps. I do remember this load shot right at an inch at 200 yds.

I have been able to go higher than 42.0 grs with weights of IMR 4350 in some of my .243's using 95 gr Partitions. Work up and test for pressure signs.

Interesting, as I just picked up a Encore .243 barrel. Had a .243 AI in the past, but that's different in it's own right. But this info will be useful for me as well. I have H-4350, H-4831SC, RL-22 and 25 here on hand to start with. Dang, just realized, I don't have dies yet,,, :roll: :lol:

I currently use H4350 with Hodgdon's max load of 42.0 gr. Last year I took a doe antelope at 430 yds using my Kimber Montana .243. The hold was on top of her back. Bullet blew out her heart. 2 years ago a buck antelope at 435 yards quartering away I aimed at the base of the neck. Bullet entered low in the lungs and took one out. He went maybe 30 yds.

I have taken several mule deer, antelope and coyotes using this load in an old Savage, the Kimber and a Merkel drilling (12x12x.243). My wife has also taken a couple of antelope (to 13 5/8") and a couple of deer with it in the old Savage.

The Hodgdon website indicates it is moving along at 3087 fps. I have never chronographed it. Don't know why, I just haven't. Shoots under 3/4" in everything. It works...enough said.
