Ya the Speer 145 BTSP shoots well in my gun, I tried the 145 spritzer but not as well I will maybe have to see if I can find some 145 grand slams and try them.
I had a part box of 140 partitions so tried a few loads this morning tried them with H4350 at 45,46,and 47 grains nothing that great but will try playing with some seating depths and see.
Curious as to peoples thoughts on which may be better in the 7mm-08 the partition or accubond and what grain was thinking of trying the 160 partition for they shoot well in the 280 just don't have any left, but will be getting more. The 7mm-08 does shoot speer 145 gr BTSP well just thought would...
Dr Mike when you do your fine tuning can you show a pic of how it improved the group and say what you did to improve it.
By looking at the shape of the groups you have posted is there any thing to tell what may help tighten them up. Does a triangle group suggest one thing, well a square group...
Thanks guys and yes I make things sound pretty confusing. 10 years ago when had no computer would just load and go shoot. Now I read to much about it and think I should try all other things. With my short time on this site the people have been very helpful.
First off I do not have a seating depth tool I no I should on this gun I used a dowel in the barrel method.
Gun is a Remington 700 30-06. Bullet Speer 180 BTSP Speer manual tested at 3.250
I have shoot at a OAL of 3.280 for years and decided to try some things this weekend.
Measuring with the...
Thanks for the info, post up when you have done your testing with the 338 and 308 calibers. What are most finding or the seating depth on the sciroccos so far Ive found .050 to be pretty good will try a bit deeper when I get the 7mm mag back and see.
Ya loaded up a box of each of the 225 speers and the 210 partitions both with Imr 7828 for now, so had some ready for any friends that wanted to use the gun for spring bear.
Both ended up at 74 gr and about the same impact point.
Will play around with the RL 19 later have to find more bullets...
Ya cidistribution is getting out of swift bullets sold out of the 338 and 7mm sciroccos
when was the last time you ordered from accuratebullet company, I will try calling them after the weekend, talked to them about a year ago and was like they were not really doing it any more either.
I decided to try some thing different today and did 2 loads with H4350 and 2 with IMR 7828 with the 210 partition looks like 7828 might be what my gun likes.
H4350 did have one pretty good load as well .
The 7828 worked best with the 225 gr speers as well but with both bullets it kicks...
Yes they seem harder to find but cheaper then the partitions. They seem to shoot well in the 338 and 7mm mag but have not used them on any thing but paper.
No worrys didn't expect you to have to put it up just wondered if any thoughts think will try some 3 shot groups at the 75.5 and possible the 74.
Thanks
I may have made my last post confusing. Im using the H4350 in the 280.
Trying RL 19 in the 338 with the 210 partitions.
Maybe Im being to fussy as well for can get the 3 shot groups down to 11/8 of an inch
Thanks for your input, maybe have to look at some H4350 loads for the 338 as well.
Did some up to 75.5gr which was the best 2 shot group so far.
Also have some 140,150 and 160 gr in .284 caliber to try in the 7mm-08 , 280 and 7mm mag
Tried a few loads of the 150s in the 280 today 2 sets with imr 4831 and 2 sets with h4350.
The H4350 groups were better with the shot group at...
Ya the only reason did 2 shot groups was hoping there was something that really jumped out either good or bad like the 2 from the 4831. Will Try some .5 increases up to 76 and see what it shows.
