    6.5 CM 130gr bullet test, Part 2 - 129gr Hornady SST

Of the 3 bullets tested, this bullet is hands down the one my rifle prefers for accuracy. In my load development, it produced several groups under .5", including two at around .3". So from an accuracy standpoint, this load was the favorite going into the test, but I wanted to get an idea how...

    6.5 CM 130gr bullet test, Part 1 - Setup

As I have mentioned in earlier posts, I have been doing some load development lately with 130gr bullets in my Franchi Momentum 6.5 CM, which I intend to use for deer this fall. After a bit of work, I ended up with the following: First row: 129gr Hornady SST, 38.5gr Varget, 2791 fps Second...

    6.5CM deer bullet choice

I just finished doing a bullet test today with the 129gr Hornady SST, 130gr Sierra TGK, and 130gr Sierra GKHP. Going to write it up in a series of posts, lots of pictures to include. Stay tuned.

New Athlon Doppler Chrono Unit $350

The main complaint I've seen people make is that it sometimes can't filter out interference from other nearby units.

    Rifle scopes

FWIW, I moved from Nikon to Burris when Nikon closed their scope line. Still have a couple of them, but the Burris Fullfield and Droptine scopes have been a suitable replacement. They tend to have a little less eye relief than the Nikon's, tho.

    Rifle scopes

I didn't think they are still made, but up until a year or two ago they were still making the Fullfield E1 4.5-14x42, with just a basic BDC reticle. I have a couple of them. They also have the Droptine 4.5-14x42 with the same reticle. But it's an AO, whereas the Fullfield is a side focus.

    Glasses for pistol shooting?

I'd be curious to know how those glasses compare to your regular glasses. Like, what is the focal length? Arms length, where your sights are? Or something else?

    Rifle scopes

You certainly don't need to spend $1000 on a 300 meter scope.

Why no IMR data for .243 Win 100 gr Partition?

You'd have to ask Nosler that question. I suspect they just vary their powder selection a bit between versions, depending on what people seem to want info for. But that's just a guess.

Need a dedicated deer blind rifle - Update

Of those 2, I would go with the 243. Keep the velocity on the lower side to prevent grenading. You didn't list it, but the 85gr Sierra GKHP would be a fine choice for this. And the other option, of course, is to use this as an excuse to buy a new rifle. 🙂 A Henry lever action in 44 mag or 45...

    Glasses for pistol shooting?

Tell me about the glasses. What was the difference between the lenses for red dot and irons?

    Glasses for pistol shooting?

Have any of you had any special glasses made for pistol shooting? By that I mean, to enable better focus and depth of field on your sights and target. If so, what was your setup? I wear normal bifocals, so getting everything to look sharp with these old eyes is a challenge. Just wondering if...

    Lentil Soup And Grilled Cheese

My wife makes lentil soup regularly. I like to put a tablespoon of sour cream in mine. Have you ever tried using mayo instead of butter on your grilled cheese? Gives it a nice tang.
