I've got one for thought. My buddy brought me over a 100 quart bucket loaded with brass that he had purchased for $30.00. All the brass was picked up over a period of time from a local range. The brass was mixed with different calibers, a lot being .243. This was his reason for purchase as his...
Charlie, Haven't used Nosler brass but I've used Norma on many occasions and it is excellent. For handguns Winchester and Remington have held up great.
Jamila, I never threw a shotgun at them but there many times I thought the birds were either wearing bulletproof vests or the ammunition manufacturers played games with me and loaded the shells with blanks.
I'm using a Beretta 391 3 1/2 inch chamber for ducks and couldn't be happier. I've only shot 3 inch through it for duck hunting along with light trap loads (clay pigeon practice before duck season) and have not had a problem with ejection. For its size (read length) I've not had a problem with...
I heard on the news yesterday that Obummer wrote an executive order banning the sale of .223 ammo. Don't know how true this is but apparently the NRA has caught wind of it. Anybody else hear this great bit of news? Supposedly he's banned it because of it's armor piercing capabilities. The BATF...
I agree with you Doc . My thoughts were he shot the elk with a crossbow and if it was during regular archery season that would have been rut time. I'm not sure if Wyoming allows the crossbow the entire length of all seasons. I've eaten (or should I say attempted to eat) elk during the rut and it...
Fotis, my rifle has just a bit of bluing worn but pretty much matches what you have. Can you tell me what rear peep sight you have and can it be installed without any alterations. After I purchased the rifle the first thing I thought of was installing a peep if there was no drilling involved.
Great picture Guy. There are a lot of eagles in my area of florida and on occasion in my yard. Our area has what are called "wood rats". They live under the low lying palms. Occasionally they get stupid and wander out on the lawns which invites a quick meal for our larger feathered friends...
I sort of gave up looking for this particular rifle. Saw them listed occasionally on gunbroker for ridiculous prices and could never find one at the many gunshows I've attended. This past weekend I attended our local (once every 4-6 month) gunshow and went by a table with a sign "private sales"...
Guys, maybe I'm wrong on this but take a 7-08, load it with RL17 and I think you push that round (bullet) right into the mix of improved calibers. Ballistics have been very impressive with that combination.
cloverleaf, bullet mass (weight) has a lot to do with efficient performance on game. The old buffalo rifles never pushed bullets too fast but try standing in front of a 500 grain bullet and you'll get the message. (just joking on the front portion). Seriously, bullet mass is the key.
Well Guy, what do you think. Carrying a half dozen of those on our belt would have been interesting. Give the bad guy a nice orange target to shoot at. "politically correct ammo". (I'm glad I retired)
I've been using 22.8 grains of 296 behind a 240 grain XTP for as long as I can remember. I shoot that load out of my Deerstalker carbine and my old Ruger super Blackhawk. If you can find H110 that will work just as good. 240 grain softnose with the same load worked great for me on larger game.
