Charlie Kirk Shot in Utah Campus

I’m in total agreement. Thank you for posting this especially with your experience.

Blood drained by mosquitoes. Fell in a marshy swamp. Tired and exhausted. Hundreds of miles walked. Sun burned. Some shots, not a single kill.

You are attempting something that has no absolutes. You don’t know what you don’t know. Are you basing success on making a kill? As far as a technique for breaking a dry spell the best one I can give you is persistence. The more you hunt the greater the chance of making a harvest. We have a...

Charlie Kirk Shot in Utah Campus

I too feel as though I’ve lost a family member. I slept very restless last night and every time I woke up i immediately thought of Charlie Kirk. So many thoughts going through my mind, and it is very difficult to get an understanding of it. So many things have happened since, that I struggle to...

Rifles that Need to be Hunted (or loads developed for) in 2025

I think you’re going to love the FTXs. My handloads, out of my 20” carbine barrel of my 94 are traveling around 2315 FPS. I knew I had an accurate load, but to know that they are traveling pretty quick for a levergun was exciting to me.

How to move through thick forest?

There is a lot of knowledge and years of experience on this site. I love threads like this as I can also get information from those who have, most likely, much more experience than I do. I look forward to see what others add and such.

How to move through thick forest?

There is SO much to learn about here, and it is years worth of learning and experience to try and explain in a thread on a forum. BUT, asking questions is a great way to get your start and begin the process! You’ve gotten some great responses here which is a great start. I am far from an expert...

How to move through thick forest?

I was always told that you should never answer a question with a question, but…. What is your purpose of moving through this area? What I mean by that is, are you just going from point A to point B, or, are you hunting this thick area with the thought that something is in there? I love to still...

    Grandpa's Old Rifle

I’ve hunted over some of those North Carolina sweet potatoes a few times, with my Remington 700 in 30-06. It was about six years ago near Greenville. That is a beautiful gun with a wonderful back story and history. Can’t wait to see the deer it takes this season!

How do you make a 30-30 much more attractive?

BSTs? I tried out some 130 ttsx’s I’m working on but I messed up my target and could not get any accurate results from it. I did get some impressive speeds from my 20” barrel though. Ramshot TAC powder At the upper end toward max I was getting an average of 3202 fps. The last shot of this load...

How do you make a 30-30 much more attractive?

As I’ve posted above I feel I have a good recipe for my handloads, which is able to reach out a bit and pretty accurate for a peep sighted 30-30. My 94 is a 20” barreled carbine and at the range the other day I was able to get an average of 2360 out of these loads. Hornady states that they get...

    Influences

That was a great post! I grew up watching Saturday morning westerns Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett on tv. We often had Argosy, Field and Stream, and Guns and Ammo magazines around the house although my parents never subscribed to them. To tell the truth I don’t remember how we had them, but we...

The allure of the Marlin in 35

The first rifle I ever held, and the first rifle I ever shot was my Father’s 336 in 35 Rem. Classic deer rifle! My Brother has that rifle now. The “close range woods” in your picture look just like the areas I love to hunt too!
