I have a 7x57 and a 275 Rigby, don’t want anything else floating around with that head stamp. Nosler has some for $139 for 50 pieces , I just don’t need it that bad.
I use them in my Ruger #1 in 7-08
And they work great on deer. I aim just behind the shoulder and put them in the heart/lung area and they don’t go far. Turns everything into soup.
Mine will shoot cloverleafs at 100 yard with my hand load and the Lever Revolution ammo. I was wanting a Ruger #1 45-70 when I got the CVA, now I can’t justify spending $1700 on a rifle that will not shoot any better than what I have.
I use those Hornady in my CVA Scout V2 . As mentioned it’s a great bullet on deer. The 45-70 is my bad weather deer gun. Big hole dumps a lot of blood.
For that price they will stay on the shelf as far as I am concerned. I see Magnum primers for about $110 almost everyday on the net and lots f places are having discounts on HazMat and shipping.
I hope to get to the loading bench this week. Had knee surgery Friday and the Wife won’t let me crutch it across country to the shop until my follow up. Picked up some Ramshot Big Game I want to try in my recently acquired Ruger #1 in 30-06 with 150gr NBT. These cool WV mornings have me itching...
Apparently they shipped to several vendors, lots available online today. Just ordered 3lbs from Midway for $125 shipped. That’s cheaper than I could have gotten it locally when available.
I was thinking the same thing, when my bottle of Blackhorn is used up I am done with it. For me it doesn’t do anything at 100 yards that Pyrodex doesn’t do.
If you take a black sharpie and completely cover the bullet and case it may show you where your issue is when you chamber the round. Shiney spot would be where your issue is.
I try to rotate several throughout the short season we have here in WV. On antlerless hunts I like my smaller calibers 25 and under especially on morning hunts, evening hunt get a 30 caliber and rainy wet weather get the 45/70. I have several #1’s in the safe that have never been had a round...
