    165gr vs 180gr Partition

Imo you don’t need a partition for any deer on the planet! I tried the same rotten Sierras out of my 30-06 in 150 grain. They go in and they don’t come out and deer run without blood trails for a good 60 plus yards. A 180 grain version in anything is going to do you good for deer. I’ve used 180...

Necking up 270 Winchester brass to 35 Whelen?

Yeah, I don’t think it would’ve been a problem either but I just figured be better to start with 30 at six brass since I’m only “upsizing” one time to try and keep my case necks as thick as possible.

308 Win 180 grain Norma Bondstrike

Yeah, I just checked their website again and they don’t have any but they’re basically an even trade if they were in stock for the credit they’re gonna give me. Darn it!

308 Win 180 grain Norma Bondstrike

Man, that’s an awesome mushroom. Reminds me of what the old sciroccos used to do before they screwed them up and made them thicker. Too bad Norma doesn’t have anything in stock on their website to replace my undersize 350 eights. I’d be all over them. They only list two bond strikes for loose...

    Midway factory seconds

Good to hear I trust Nosler more than I trust any other brand. The hornady second I had were .001” undersized but so were the same bullets in a brand new box I had from them

Anyone ever try .358” 200 grain FTX on deer loaded in the 35 Whelen?

Yeah, I’ve read “opinions” too. I was just hoping that someone has used them at faster velocities on Whitetail deer and can share their experience, but I appreciate the link above. I read it a long time ago too. I’ve also read opinions that they stick together enough even at fast 35 Whelen...

    Midway factory seconds

Has anybody ever measured the diameter of the seconds? I had some that were undersize not too long ago, but they were a different manufacturer’s seconds. I do have some Nosler seconds but haven’t loaded any.

.358” projectiles out of spec is quite common I’ve been finding out lately

Just had a chance to open both replacement boxes of Hornady projectiles. I measured 2 frome each box of 250's and 200's. Happy to report all four measured .358". I won't end up doing any laddrr tests with them any time soon. Ill just put them back into my inventory for time being. I also...

Necking up 270 Winchester brass to 35 Whelen?

Yeah I decided to pass on the 270 brass that was going to be given to me figured it's going to be too big of a stretch in the necks are going to be too thin by the time I get done even if they don't crack. I'm pretty sure I have some 30 out 6 military casings laying around in my stash that don't...

    Best Calibers For Moose Hunting

I don't even know what would possess somebody to shoot a moose with a 22 caliber rifle other than a poacher practicing their craft.

    Best Calibers For Moose Hunting

I watched Jim’s video. I’m sure he got paid quite well for that advertisement. I’ll stick with my 300 RUM. I just watched some outdoor life writer shoot a moose with a 22 ARC. Three shots of it stood there for about a half a minute and then fell over. So apparently you can shoot them with 22...

Necking up 270 Winchester brass to 35 Whelen?

I’d rather start with 06’ brass. Maybe if somebody here has a 270 win and need some brass and has 35 Whelen brass we can do some horse trading?

Anyone ever try .358” 200 grain FTX on deer loaded in the 35 Whelen?

Looks like the book data above doesn’t push them very hard anyways in anything with 200 grains versus the Hornady super performance ammo at 2950 fps. At that velocity, I’m really not gaining anything anyways versus the 2500 ft./s 180 grain hot core I’m currently shooting. IMO I am better off to...

Necking up 270 Winchester brass to 35 Whelen?

I just acquired about 116 pieces of ones fired PMC brass in 270 Winchester. I don’t own a 270. I do own a couple of 30-06 and a 35 Whelen. My plan was to neck them up to 35 Whelen. I think I did this years ago with about eight or nine pieces of 270 brass and some 280 brass I found at the range...

Anyone ever try .358” 200 grain FTX on deer loaded in the 35 Whelen?

That looks like it’s probably a newer addition than my horn day book…Thsnks! I just need to get my hands on some of those to try now.

Anyone ever try .358” 200 grain FTX on deer loaded in the 35 Whelen?

I like the idea of the “ballistic tip looking” projectile. I know they’re not recommended for anything faster than 35 Remington velocities but I’m curious at how they would do going faster out of a 35 Whelen on a Whitetail deer? Anybody ever tried them and if so, how did they do?

    OAL bullet seating frustration

Yup, before I bought a comparator made by Hornady I would run into the same issues you’re having and it would drive me nuts. Never had a consistent measurement with any of my projectiles after I seated the first and measured it. Using the comparator a measuring to the ojive will at least get you...

    30 calibre 180 Ballistic Tip

I’ve never shot them on Elk or moose and I would assume that’s where a premium bullet would do better with a less than perfect shot or at an extreme angle. I just never shoot deer unless they’re broadside or quartering away from me. I’ve gotten some pretty extreme angles and always an exit...
