    30 calibre 180 Ballistic Tip

Yep, I wouldn’t be afraid to use it on bigger game even though I haven’t. People always say to stay away from it from it on ELK and Moose. I can think of a lot better options like a scirocco, partition, or a core loct I wouldn’t feel handicap or under gun or nervous about using a ballistic tip...

    30 calibre 180 Ballistic Tip

I forgot they redesigned it myself. I saw some boxes a few months ago and didn’t realize they had a generation ballistic tip because I almost traded for some until I realized they were a different construction and not as stout. I probably have three or four boxes of the old style screw...

.358” projectiles out of spec is quite common I’ve been finding out lately

Just got an email from Barnes. They said my .358” TSSX tipped were undersized according to their micrometers at .3575”…BUT…within their acceptable diameter tolerance “range”. I asked them what their “acceptable diameter” range was and they wouldn’t share it with me. I didn’t expect any less...

    Poor Winchester brass quality control.

Imo they don’t make their brass for reloading. It’s a once and done cheap case.

.358” projectiles out of spec is quite common I’ve been finding out lately

My 2 boxes of replacement Hornady .358’s just showed. A box each of 200 and 250 grainers. I’ll have to open up both of them and measure and see if they’re bigger and diameter when I get a chance…fingers crossed. Haven’t heard back from Norma or Barnes yet. My replacement Lyman bullet puller...

    Poor Winchester brass quality control.

I emailed right after this and got a response saying that my refund check is processing and I’ll see it in 1 to 2 weeks. They didn’t tell me how much it was for though. So if it shows in two weeks, it’ll be a little over two months turnaround time.

    Poor Winchester brass quality control.

If you heard back yet? I sent my ammo in the beginning of September and I still haven’t got a response.

    30 calibre 180 Ballistic Tip

Shot a few nice bucks with them out of 300 RUM at almost point blank range running under deer my tree stand. They all exited and dropped in the spot. My buddy shot a treed black bear around 00’ with the sane set up. Dropped that bear out of the tree. Hit the ground and needless to say it didn’t...

    New Vintage Woods Rifle

I love those rifles. I’ve got an original 600 in 243 from 1967. My buddy who is a Smith I swear has every caliber they made except for 35 rem and 223. His brother picked one up just like mine a few years back out in Arizona and a pawnshop for $300. I know we had to do a little work on it, but it...

Any chance someone can run velocities on Quickloads for me?

I’m just curious about my velocities, but since bow hunting season is starting to go prime I don’t plan on going back to the range to run my loads across the chronograph to figure out my drops. Could someone run velocities on two of my loads if they have the quickloads program! If so they’d be...

.358” projectiles out of spec is quite common I’ve been finding out lately

Got an email from Hornaday saying they sent me a box each back in the 200 and 250 versions. Also, my bullet puller showed up today. Just waiting to hear back from Barnes and Norma now. Norma told me that I would have about $73 on credit with whatever they have in stock online and if I didn’t...

Group testing my Remington 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen with 180 grain hot cores

I loaded 40 of them up the other day for the upcoming rifle season. I also pinned tumbled my brass so the inside of the case necks were nice and clean versus my test loads. They seeded way easier so now I’m paranoid but there’s not as much neck tension but I’m sure they’re probably just fine...

Remington 200 CLRN .35 Remington or other Cartridges

The only 200 grain .358…..3595” …I’ve shot deer with are these…. Loaded with 40 grains of varget they chrony at 2100 fps out of 336. They have dropped every deer I’ve shot with them where they stood when shot. I’ve shot a few with 180 grain hot cores. They do good as well but. Sone stagger a...

    This leupy is no good!

You must’ve got the right person or at least I must’ve beat some sense into them when they tried to replace my VX11 3-9 I paid $299 for back around 90’ (sent them the receipt) and they tried to replace it with an $199 equivalent. They got it right eventually. The vx3i I had 3 in row that went...

Group testing my Remington 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen with 180 grain hot cores

I figured those Speer 220s are tough bullets meant to be driven at max whelen velocities on moose and elk sized game…and bigger. Think I have at least 200 of them. I know they’re impossible to get since they don’t make them anymore and everybody’s after them. I’ve never tried them yet. I ended...

    This leupy is no good!

I have to many guns. It would cost a small fortune to put premium optics on every one of them.

Can bullet weight alone make a big difference in precision, or powder?

Those particular projectiles are probably the same diameter , or a hair larger, as your inner bore dimensions then. Have you ever slugged your barrel and measured the slug? I normally do with every rifle because I shoot Cast through them. I also measure my jacketed projectiles. Undersized Cup...

    This leupy is no good!

Give it time it’ll do the magical “Leupold leap” as they all do. I have many leupolds that won’t adjust after adjusting three or four times and not moving like above . Then after so many tries i finally get it to adjust and zero it in. Then the next time out it’s so far off from zero. It...

OK Nosler what is this about?????

A 2024 Zippedo (aka solid base) brought back to life!! I could only wish they re-introducing the partition golds again. I hope it’s a new innovative bullet design introduction instead of another oddball Nosler cartridge That’ll be by the wayside in a year or two.

Can bullet weight alone make a big difference in precision, or powder?

Solid copper bullets won’t “expand” to fill the bore when you shoot it like a cup and core. Bonded bullets are just as bad imo for not expanding to fill out the “bore”. When fired imo. Have you ever slugged your barrel to measure the inside of it and that E tip? I’ve had some Barnes XLCs that...
