After several months of seeing this hawk at the local city park - and the evidence of bird kills... I finally got some decent photos. I thought it was a Cooper's Hawk but the good folks at the Ornithological Society (that's a really big word for a Marine BTW) have informed me that it's a Red...
I've never found my 1:10 twist 25-06 to be lacking. Could always get 3100+ fps with 115's, even close to 3200 fps with book loads. Good accuracy. Low recoil. Flat trajectory. Lethal up close or way out there...
But yes - the new 1:7.5 twist 25 Creedmoor opens up barrel & bullet possibilities...
Recently loaded 25-06 100 gr TTSX's to 3350 fps via Grand.
Flat shooting. Accurate. Funny, with all that velocity I used it to take an Axis deer at about 50 yards. My 30-30 would have been more appropriate.

I haven't used it enough to get good data on temp stability.
We only had a bit at the shop, did some loading and shooting with it and called it good. I was interested in how it would work with my 25-06 and 7mm Rem Mag, and maybe my 257 Weatherby, so recently I bought 8 pounds of it. That ought...
Sadly discontinued (but maybe not forever?) IMR 8133 did a fine job for me with a couple of different 7mm Rem Mags using Hornady's 150 gr ELD-X.
That was from my son's 24" Bergara rifle.
From my 26" Ruger Number One it produced 3289 fps! I think it was just shy of 3200 fps from my son's 24"...
A few years ago I latched onto this full size 9mm Kimber. Accurate. Reliable. Very mellow recoil. Slide is also easier to operate than a 45 1911. It's a very pleasant one to shoot and has a pretty decent trigger as well. I added a tritium front sight. Dialed in everything real well with that...
Great bullet for the 375 when a sturdy 300 grainer isn't necessary. I've only shot a few black bears with it, from about 15 feet out to just over 300 yards. The bullet did superbly in all instances. Recovered the bullet fired from such short range.
Nosler shows 69 grains of RL-15 as their...
This was published in a 1937 magazine article, and is based on a conversation with someone who'd talked shooting and gunfighting with Wild Bill Hickcok.
The target is a 5"x5" square with a 1" square in the center.
Distance is 25 feet.
Strong hand only.
No time limit.
All rounds must go...
The 9mm in a full size 1911 is such a peach to shoot! Very little recoil. Easy accuracy. I've got a 5" Kimber in 9mm - it's the easy 1911 to shoot for sure.

Factory match ammo usually produces very good results in a wide range of rifles - without having been worked up for each one specifically. For instance I'd go to some police SWAT sniper schools and competitions and almost everyone was using the famous Federal Gold Medal 168 or 175 grain...
Thanks. 1911's look so good without a big ol' bulky box atop them. But, old eyes needed help.
BTW, police shooting stats show a far greater hit percentage from cops who have dot-type sights on their handguns.

Your project looks great!
This is a 1974 vintage Remington 700 BDL that I sanded down and hand-rubbed 7 coats of Tru-Oil onto the stock. At first it had a dull sheen to it, but with more handling and time it developed into this. I refinished it about 1990 - and this photo was just from a...
Picked up a new Springfield Ronin 1911 in 45 ACP in December, put 50 rounds through it within minutes of buying it. Excellent performance. My only complaint is that the thumb safety feels mushy when putting it on safe. Nice click though when taking it off safe. The sights are big and bold with a...
