    Little Range Time 5-31-2026

Today was the first time out this year as expected some rust to shake off. Besides the H4350 Creed test and the Sub 308 , I tried out a new scope I mounted on the 375 Wby this winter. I had sent the scope I had mount on it back to Crimson Trace. I took a generic load of 270gr Speers and Hybrid...

    308 Win. Sub 220gr RN

Back around the first of the year I toyed around with the Hornady 220gr RN and TiteGroup for subsonic loads. Not that I could finally have time to hit my range , I tried them out. My S2 Vanguard has a 1:12 twist and I found that to be a handicap. They impacted 18.5” low on my 208gr A-max zero...

    Powder Comparison

Digging this up again. Today I had a chance to run H4350 in this test. The only difference today is I’m using my Garmin and the Striker has a different brake that won’t allow the Magentospeed to mount. 44grs is all one can load in this case.

Either the Barnes or the Nosler AB will serve you well in the 270.

    Where is the Kano Kroil?

My Kano Kroil is a pinkish orange. I’ve found that CRC makes the equivalent to Kroil with their Knocker Loose as a penetrating oil.

Quickload request for my new to me Cooper

I’ve not used IMR 4831 but one thing to keep in mind is milder loads of slow burning powder tend to run dirty until acceptable pressures are met.

    Where’s Dr Mike?

Words well spoken. As people age some take the easy way and for you , you’re choosing to keep the body and mind sharp.

    Loading for Youth

From my experiences it is hard to be the Nosler 64gr BSB for a .224 cal with young hunters.

Why horizontal stringing? 30-06 with high BC bullets

5 mph wind should show less than 1/2” at 100yds. A bi-pod that’s not being preloaded on a slippery surface is not ideal for load development. Anytime a variable is introduced into a load , I start from scratch. 2 years ago I picked up some CCI 250s and they were a pain when used in my 338WM.

any one ever use American reloading Midwest surplus powders? I ordered some 716-2 supose to be similar to Ramshot magnum

I’ve been using their MP-521 in place of BL-C2 with good results. It is a tad slower than the BL-C2.

    Hammer Absolute Hunter Bullet

The 90gr AH have been little stinkers it 2 of our 257 Wbys. This summer I might try H4350 and see what I get. The 124gr HH and 404gr SH soot great for me.
