Old thread....but thinking about the 120 gr E-tip for my 6.5-284 Norma. Anyone have experience with this bullet? My rifle is a Savage with a long chamber. Shoots 140 CC very well and starting to work up a hunting load for black bears. Either 140 AB or Partition, but then what about the 120...
Have a like new Sako Finnlight coming in next week. Already have one in 30-06 that I have dialed in for 180 gr Partitions. Was thinking about running lighter bullets in this one. Maybe 150 gr E-tips, old stand bye 165 Partitions or 165 gr AB? Primary purpose black bears, elk, maybe a pig...
I was having this problem of opening my gun safe in the garage and seeing so many rifles that I just don't have time to shoot. What should I do with them? Maybe sell a couple? I didn't quite know.
Then it dawned on me. Put them in the gun safe in the basement. That way when I open the safe in...
Varget 42.5 gr with the 200 gr E-tip. Shoot well in my Sako and I have not pushed up the charge.
It is a great looking bullet. I shot a smaller black bear this spring and it was dead in it's tracks.

338 Federal would be a really nice jump. As stated previously more frontal diameter not a magnum recoil. 210 gr and below bullets shoot well
Tikkas are good shooters I have several. I have a couple Tikka wood stocks floating around to shorten when one of the kids is ready.
Doesn't take a...
Planning to archery hunt elk in Oregon but this dry summer is going to shut things down on the timber company lands even before the season opens. Last year, the closed they areas I hunt to all access during the middle of archery.
Found this bullet test on the Hornady gummy tip. Wonder what effect having side holding the jugs has upon the test?
Would like to find a few boxes of the Hornady 200 gr FP but there out out of production

I have a few Whelens sitting around. My latest is a Tikka T3 bored into a Whelen
Nice shooter and easy on the packing shoulder. Little push on the shooting shoulder but with a Whelen...... it only takes one shot.
I have an Encore with 14 inch barrels in 223 and 7mm-08
Just got it a few months ago. The 7mm-98 seems to shot 120 gr BT well and tomorrow is first range day for the 223.
I have been trying to learn more about the Hornady FTX. There are a few cast bullet options also
Guess will just have to try it out the FTX. It shoots the factory loads pretty well, little better thanks reloading. Think it is a crimping thing on my reloads
The rifle....
