Is there something wrong with me??? Ok ok don't have to answer that one boys! Lol!
64'Hornets scouting trip got me all revved up!!
So today I was working for a good customer of mine , and a good friend and a farmer with .. Well a lot more acres than my self , about 3000 of them .
I got done repairs on his equipment at about 2:00 then I went shed hunting down in what we call a coulee, it may make more sense to the guys that hunt the south as a drainage. Basically at one time this would have been a major tributary that has since pretty much dried up except for spring run off . I never found any sheds , lots of moose dung looks like they had a good winter, many deer tracks and dung,, and found some elk dung on the south east corner of the loop I made. I found a few spots I may put up a ground blind this fall . All in all a good 2 hr hike the ruffed grouse were drumming , wood peckers knocking , and the number of robins going thru the leaves was un believable likley a 100 or more robins in one spot. Sun must have been thawing out the insects.
I have not made a run north yet to look for bears !!! But man I wanna just hunt!!
Oh and my new Bow should get delivered next week!!

I'm with you, feeling the burn. I need to get out. Lots of green down lower, but quite a bit of snow in the mountains.

Evidence of moose, deer and elk on a two hour hike, I'd call that a good hunt. Sounds like a great afternoon.

A few weeks past, my wife called me to complain about some animals using the lawn as their toilet. I laughed as I explained that a cow and calf moose had bedded down in the yard. There are several that winter over in town each year. I promised my wife I'd work the pellets into the soil.

That is just mind boggling to me Dr. Mike. We have the same thing here. Mid 70's here during the day but the mountains just east of Santa Fe ( 45 miles away) were hit with 6-12 inches of the white stuff again last night. Crazy!!

Indeed, it sounds like a wonderful afternoon! (y)

I like getting out all year long, not just during the fall hunting seasons. Next time, grab a rifle and a coyote call...

Yup, same here. Looking forward to spring turkey season in a couple weeks!

August 1st. - black bear in Oregon. Time to go berry picking. The critter across the berry patch might just be a black bear
