Working up a load for my "new" 1992 Browning Bar 338 Win Mag.

FWIW, I have found that for loctited screws, applying a soldering iron directly to the screw usually works. I would go this method first before using a torch.

I’m a Eurooptics Fanboy too. Great dealership. Purchased optics and rifles from them.

Did you build this as an F-OPEN rifle? What’s the weight with scope?

    entry/mid level binoculars

Meopta is a very underrated brand. The Nikon Monarch line is good at that price point. Also look at Kowa. Go to Eurooptic and use their search engine. I have 8x42’s in Meopta’s, 10x42 Leica Trinovids, Swarovski 7x42 SLC’s and an old pair of Zeiss 10x40’s. My experience is that the 10x are great...

    somewhat impressed

I had a 338 Federal, built on a Sako L-579 action in a McMillan Sako Classic stock. It was barreled by ER Shaw in 338 Federal. The only load that it would shoot under a MOA was the Federal factory 185 gr Barnes. I shot a buck quartering to me at ~100 yds with that load just in front of the...

    Where’s Dr Mike?

Glad to hear that you are still on the right side of the daisies Dr. Mike. You’re an honest humble man of good character, that seems be lacking today on the ‘net. I really was disappointed to see the Ladies driven from this forum, and was hoping that the same had not happened to you . As...

I need IMMEDIATE HELP with my 336

Take a close look at your headspace on reloaded cases. Are you setting the shoulder back too far? As mentioned earlier, The 35’s shoulder can be a problem. Check your primer pocket depth and primer seating process.

    Where’s Dr Mike?

I haven’t seen Dr Mike on here for a while. Sure do hope that he is OK. Does anybody know if he is OK?

    Bergers for Hunting or Not?

I shoot Bergers exclusively in my match rifles. However, I would never consider a bullet with those design criteria for any big game. Maybe groundhogs. My big game rifles have seen Sierra’s, Hornady, and Noslers. I’m glad to see the old solid base boat tails back without the ballistic tips.

Does a Nosler Model 48 replacement trigger with an adjustable shoe placement exist?

Trigger Tech is as good as it gets. Timney is a close second. However, my match rifles wear Bix N Andy or Jewel.

    2026 Wish List?

I’m not sure who in the boardroom at Leupold and Nosler makes the product line decisions but they are clueless when it comes to field use of the product line for REAL hunters. Additionally, they need to reengineer the entire adjustment system. Reliability is questionable. I have moved my first...

Does a Nosler Model 48 replacement trigger with an adjustable shoe placement exist?

Nosler used Timney on the high grade models. The lower production grades used Rifle Basix. Read my post#14.

Does a Nosler Model 48 replacement trigger with an adjustable shoe placement exist?

If you have a fiberglass stocked Model 48, the trigger placement high in the guard is caused by the inletting into the stock. This is a QA/Design issue with the stock as Nosler should have done a better job of specifying magazine box depth so that the inletted barreled action sat at proper...

Does a Nosler Model 48 replacement trigger with an adjustable shoe placement exist?

The Model 48 trigger is not compatible with any Remington 700 pattern aftermarket trigger. The Model 48 trigger was made by Rifle Basix. Timney offers a replacement that you. Can buy now. When I had mine, Timney had an agreement with Nosler to NOT sell direct to the consumer. You had to send the...

Bell and Carlson stock fit needs work

If you have a gunsmith that you have confidence in, spend the $150. It’s not sounding like you would come out of this with a happy result by doing it yourself. Bedding a rifle is not like changing a tire. Even the better brands like H-S Precision ands McMillan require some fitting. I would...
