    Federal’s Plus Peak 6.5 Creedmoor

It will certainly burn it up fast especially considering the fact that most likely the high pressure steel + Peak alloy case is harder than brass and won't expand as well to fill in gaps where the hot gasses could creep into leading to further damage to the throat area with heat. With that...

What is "reasonable" accuracy for a hunting rifle?

1.75 Inch for a 5 shot group out of factory ammo isn't amazing but is nowhere close to being bad. It's good enough. Just take the TTSX and go on your hunt. Call the elk into close range and shoot with confidence.

Another question for all us hunters: Favourite method?

Well put! Same here. There's no "stalk" only "spot". 😁 Ambush for life.

Another question for all us hunters: Favourite method?

Thanks, appreciate it. I know I may have come off a bit passionate about this subject in my previous posts. It just comes from the early experiences I had while attempting stalking in my environment. Here's the MidwayUSA link to the Tail Mate Gelcore. I really love it and recommend it to others...

Another question for all us hunters: Favourite method?

Lets say in a hypothetical scenario if you were hunting Red Junglefowl (wild chicken), an extremely paranoid bird that lives in dense thick jungles, would you still do "spot and stalk"?

Another question for all us hunters: Favourite method?

I used to try to stalk and my beginning days' struggles are well documented in other threads so I have fully and thoroughly divorced myself from ever attempting to spot and stalk unless the conditions are just absolutely perfect with thick fog that makes me invisible and very wet damp ground...

    375 Ruger

It's because the 375 Ruger isn't really a "Ruger" cartridge. Hornady is the one who designed it, created the proprietary and unique brass case, and Ruger is only marketing it. Nosler is likely incentivized to not produce any ammo for the 375 Ruger as they view Hornady as a competitor. Your...

    Ticks

I took a hike recently in the national forest to try and find a place to pattern my shotgun. Had to walk off trail to find a nice berm with a good backstop so I stepped in a lot of dead leaves, vegetation, and ferns. This was my first time using Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus so I drenched myself in...

    Experiences with 8MM's

Very interesting. We only have those 180gr ECX available here in the US as factory seconds. I should probably buy up some more before they are gone.

    2027 Hunt

Do the PH let you take some guinea fowl and sandgrouse on the side with a shotgun for free? If I was there I would take full advantage of small game.

    Winchester Model 70 Alaskan

What an awesome rifle. Modern built, I believe in Spain, but with classic old school Model 70 DNA. High quality. Many owners describe this as being the closest modern thing to a pre-64 M70. Great rifle. Please let us know how it shoots.

Gun socks for storage in safe to prevent scratches? Rust?

I have the same issue of a tightly cramped space where they all touch against each other with significant weight and force so my storage method to prevent rust and damage is each gun is first covered in a silicone treated gun sock (polyester & cotton) and then zipped up in a soft case...

    Use Enough Gun

Diameter, and surgical shot placement with big powerful magnums combined should be the standard for all dangerous game however when it comes to filling a high number of tags, subsistence, management/cull hunts, and deep backcountry hikes, my personal opinion is that in those situations a lighter...

    Use Enough Gun

There's differing philosophies as you pointed out. Just depends on the situation. Many use surgical well placed shots with small calibers while others swear by large frontal diameter. It all comes down to judgement at the end of the day for whatever your particular situation is that you are...

A short story from this morning's turkey pursuit...

Correct on treating it like deer season this time of year. They just don't respond to calls at all beyond in the morning. I would think maybe calling in the morning would work just to let a gobbler know about your presence and when he gets lonely after his hens go to nest maybe he will silently...

    Public Land Turkey Hunting Tips

Sealed the deal on this bird. First day of hunting. @JD338 @jimbires Thanks for the guidance! These birds were call shy and I called very little just enough to make the male curious. 15 - 20 Yard shot at max. He came up behind me to the left side.
