Shooters Pro shop new 2nds listings on BivWak...

JustMo, I've been buying Partition 2nds for a while directly from Shooter's Pro Shop, been watching for some 130 gr .270s to appear. Now they're listed on Bivwak, but shown as "out of stock" on the SPS website. Do you know if SPS plans to sell only through Bivwak from now on? Or will I be...

    6mm Remington 95grain BT

Good bullet, well worth trying. As an alternative suggestion, my brother shoots a 6mm Rem and has had very good luck on Whitetails using the 6mm 95 gr Partition. Very accurate from his 788 and produces quick kills. There are usually some seconds available from Nosler at around $14 per 50. I...

    Horizontal stringing question

The only time it ever happened to me I was using a newly mounted scope on a 300 wsm, it was about my third or fourth range session when suddenly I went from quarter size groups to about a 2" horizontal string. Checked the mount screws and found one of the windage adjustments was loose. Tightened...

.257 PT vs Accubond - drastic difference in point of impact

I have a Ruger 25-06 and it won't shoot the accubond worth beans either, it'll shoot about anything else I feed it though, Partitions, Ballistic Tips, Sierra GameKings, Barnes TSX, everything except the Accubond. A few months ago I thought I'd finally found a recipe for the Accu using Retumbo...

    Brass Trimmers?

IDG, You're right, often the pin is a little long, if you have a new case that needs trimming sometimes you can't get it down to recommended "trim to" length. What I do is take the new trimmer gage and a new case, trim the case as far as it'll go, then I just give the tip if the pin a few...

    2008 Nosler Brass Wish List

I'll second the .257 Roberts, but my #1 vote would have to be for 25-06 Rem. Keeping my fingers crossed.

    Brass Trimmers?

I'll add another piece of equipment for consideration. I don't load mass quantities of ammo at any single sitting. I load lots of cases over a given period of time, but seldom more than 30 or 40 in a session, usually more like 20 at a time. With this said, I've found the most consistent brass...

first shot , could you some advice

A cold bore probably had something to do with it, but if the bore was squeeky clean when you started that was likely the main cause. Most rifles, to my experience, tend to throw the first shot from a clean bore. Think about it, there's a good chance you oiled the barrel to prevent rust after...

    Nosler 168 gr Custom Comp

Thanks D.F. After making the initial post I sat down and after some cyphering came up with 4 different test loads to try at the range tomorrow. I've loaded up 5 each with IMR-4895, Varget, Vit N-150 and BL-C2. Just by coincidence my BL-C2 load is 44.5 gr with Lapua brass and GM-210m primers...

    Nosler 168 gr Custom Comp

Just took delivery on a brand new T/C Icon chambered for .308 Win. I also have a couple hundred 168 gr Custom Competition Noslers to try out. Anybody care to share some loading data? I can figure things out on my own, but it'd be nice to have a few recommendations for starting points. I don't...

    .280 Remington Loads

I have a bunch of Deer rifles, 6mm Rem, 257 Roberts, 25-06 Rem, 270 Win, 308 Win etc, but every year I keep relying on my trusty 280 Rem. All my other rifles shoot good, but no matter how hard I try to take them into the field I keep reverting back to old reliable, the "Heat Seeker". Mine is...

    280 Rem

Can't comment on the Accubonds, but my 280 shoots the 140 Partitions inside 1" consistently with both R-22 and AA-3100. I've tried about everything in that range of burn rate, H-4831, R-19, even IMR-7828. The R-22 and AA-3100 perform best with my 26" barrel. Not much difference between the two.

    2008 Accubond Wish List

95 or 100 gr in .257. The 110 gr is a really loooong bullet and difficult to stabilize in some rifles.

    Nickel Cases

From personal experience I've found that the nickel plating starts cracking and coming off after a few loadings. It may not matter one iota but it'll start separating at the base of the shoulder, after only a few FL sizings, right where the body turns inward toward the neck. Probably won't...

    Powder temp question

First off let me apologise, I made a mistake, the powder wasn't RL-19, it was RL-22. I've been testing so many different bullets and powders in this rifle lately that I got myself confused. It was only after checking my shot log and the actual target that I realized my mistake. This...

    Powder temp question

OK, will do. Next time I'm at the range I'll see if the same thing happens after I pre-heat a round. May not shoot exactly the same as the last one, probably won't, but it will be interesting to see if I get another flyer.

    Powder temp question

I know that some powders are prone to producing different results at different temperatures, but I'm not quite up to par on how much these differences can be. Here's my question, hopefully someone can fill me in. Last week I was at the range testing some loads. I was alone except for one...

whar powder to settle on in my 25-06?

My job didn't allow me to shoot today, probably be first of the week now. I'll post the rest of my Retumbo data when I'm done. My chrony is nothing fancy but it works good enough for my requirements. It's a Shooting Chrony Alpha Master. I don't own Quickload either, although I will in the near...

whar powder to settle on in my 25-06?

Just happens I was doing some testing yesterday with my 25-06 and the 110 Accubond. I got good results with Retumbo, the best so far with this bullet. Nosler data lists 59 gr as max. I shot 57 through my chrony and got a 2949 fps average for 5 shots and a .918" group. I started getting a "low...
