Update after a "brief" range trip.
1) New Garmin Xero
2) Last year's load provided through Q/L - Apparently Q/L uses a longer COAL than the Viht manual which accounted for the higher powered charge.
A stiff charge of N570 & 175gr EH yielded a 5 shot average of 3186.9fps. Slightly over the...
So true about the chronograph. I'm going to need to do a bit of updating in that department. Too difficult to go to the range now and set one up out in front of the benches. That Garmin has caught my eye. Hope to have good data to run with next weekend.
It's been too long - thanks again!
CO archery season is about done this year and time to move on. I didn't have much time to work on loads last fall for the 7PRC and now that I have time, I'm seeing some concerning max load variances. Has this been typical since the inception of this round? I was provided quick load data last...
I'd agree with what Guy has stated. I and my family have shot quite a few elk with 140gr Elite Hunters out of a .260 Remington to 190VLDH / 205 gr Elite Hunters out of a .300 RUM. Most ranging between the 325-400 yard mark with the exact results Guy has mentioned. No pass through with massive...
Grip and grins are the best no matter the take method. Girlfriends first archery elk hunt, and was able to call it a success. 8 total days above 11,000 feet and sealed the single shot taken on day 6. Great team effort on getting the young bull back to camp the following day.
Ok, delima folks..........
Due to multiple factors in front of the CO elk herd this year, I chose to put the bow in the closet and........... yes, draw a second season bull tag. With that said, i haven't added a new round to the safe in years, so enter stage right....... Seekins PH2 7PRC.
I...
Time for the yearly post. Hope all my old friends on here are doing well and happy upcoming holidays to all!
No complaints from the 2022 season, short of I ate one CO mule deer archery tag, 1 archery bear, 1 rifle bear, 1 cow elk, 1 bull elk, and 1 Kansas archery tag. No tags filled but the...
It's that time of year again, and as quick as it started, it's over. (At least for me) 15 Years to draw the tag, and was a great hunt with a life long friend. Not necessarily the 330+ bull that we had hopped for starting out 15 years ago, but absolutely no regrets. I knew when I saw him, he was...
It seems forever since I've been on here & miss a lot of info and stories that I used to enjoy daily. Great to see some of the same folks continuing the forum.
2020 was a pretty darn good season with a lot of firsts. Will only post the rifle harvests although my girlfriend harvested her first...
Been a long time since I've been on the forum. Archery took over, however still enjoy pulling the boom sticks out and putting meat in the freezer.
I lucked out and snagged a turned in tag for the area I generally hunt, and my boy harvested his second elk this year, with my Dad along to share...

It might be too late for my $0.02........
A spotter definitely has it's place - I have a Leupy 15x40 that is absolutely great, however it never makes it into my pack. It's heavy and I don't enjoy carrying it.
With that said, I enjoy photography but really suck at it. I purchased a...
