If you can't get to 16x, you might try rotating the scope 90 degrees. Have a BSA on my 10/22 that I had to do this with, and while it looks "wrong" it works.
Having experienced this fun subject several times, my dad and I added one more step to our stuck case removal process- The deep freeze. Put those stuck dies in the freezer overnight and they seem to slide out, Might be worth a try!
A friend of mine has over 15000 rounds through his Model 22 with hard cast reloads, so maybe the mythbusters need a visit! I has several 100 rounds of wheel weight cast bullets through my 22, I clean after each session and have had no problems. The .40 cal has also put two deer in the freezer...
Does anyone have a load that works good in this rifle. I have a fairly new one that shoots decent with remanufactured ammo, but am looking for something more accurate that I can reload. Any suggestions welcome, just trying to tighten things up some with it. TIA
M1 Garands and an M1a have filled our freezers many times and make great memories, plus nothing like a quick follow up shot or two when dad misses ( which aint often) !
My 28" Douglas barrel on my 03 Springfield action shoots 154 Hornadys into 3" or less at 600 yards all day long, and at 3250 fps it gets the job done right now. I think a 1 in 10 barrel handles this weight fine!
Thanks for the replies! I will try to find some Imperial, since I have been using Hornady's OneShot and with my M1A and Garand Loads it just doesn't quite cut it. I wish all dies were available in carbide or TN for sizing then resizing would be a breeze! Thanks again for the advice.
I am curious as to which company has the best case sizing lube and why you like it more than another. I have used several and the latest aerosol type has me thinking that every other case is about to stick. Thank in advance.
Thanks for all the help with this question. And now the good news. My wife ordered a 700 SPS SS in 300 RUM for me for my birthday. I think I will keep them both. She had a toss-up between a new compound bow or this rifle, may be that she and the kids really do like hunting and eating those dead...
Thanks for the tips and replies, now to find $$$ for the beast . I may wait and see if I get drawn before I go shopping. Do any of you prefer a specific rifle over another in this Cartridge? Thanks
I am looking into a 300 Remington Ultra Mag and noticed no 165 factory loads for it. Does it not like 165's or just not popular. I was thinking about 165 for deer at long range and 180's for elk. What do you guys that load for this round like? Thank in advance.
