    RCBS summit.

I can't comment on the Summit Press as I use a slightly customized Lee Classic Cast for most of my reloading, but can fully agree with mjcmichigan's comments about the RCBS M1000. I have several digital scales and the M1000 is just as quick and accurate and never needs recalibration during a...

    Bigger Bores & Bigger Bullets

Ray, I had the same experience with my 9.3x62. It took me no time to find loads for both 250 gr AB's and 286 gr NP bullets. I don't remember how may shots it took to sight it in but I know it wasn't many. It is one the easiest cartridge I now load and I load for 10 different calibers.

    45-70 cast bullets

Several good powders for 45-70, included those mentioned. I use IMR 4198 both for down-loaded hard cast bullets as well as hotter jacketed bullet loads in my Ruger #1. I will soon be trying AA5744 for heavy cast bullets in a Pedersoli Sharps (Lyman 1878 Creedmoor version of 1877 Sharps). 5744...

    Bigger Bores & Bigger Bullets

Life and age is catching up with me and I can no longer climb mountains to hunt elk but, I still enjoy hunting deer and hogs. I have convinced myself that I still need my 358 Win, and 9.3x62 and my 45-70's. The truth is, I really like hunting with and shooting bigger bore rifles with heavy for...

    Bullet puller

I too use Grip-N-Pull and they work really well. I have yet to damage a bullet as you don't have to have more than a light grip to pull a bullet. Tool works in conjunction with your press and you are able to save the powder and without making a mess on your bench. I have both the large rifle...

    45/70 Nosler Bullet?

Last year when visiting friends in Joplin MO, I dropped by my favorite gun shop. Apparently, they bought a bunch of bullets from an estate sale and I picked up 2 unopened boxes of .458 300 gr NP's. I've not reloaded any of them yet, but I'm hoping that my Ruger #1 45-70 will shoot them as...

    New speer loading data

Looks like some good information on some new powders! Thanks for sharing.

    A poll on rifle rests

I normally use front and bags or front bipod and rear cushion, but have really grown to like the Caldwell Stinger for sighting in my rifles. You still have to adjust the front elevation on the Stinger after each shot but, its quick and easy. I tried a lead sled a couple of times but couldn't...

    Turret press vs. single stage

I have a Lee Classic turret and a Lee Classic single stage press. For load development, I like a single stage press and for bulk reloading I use my turret press more often. The turret press makes the reloading process a bit quicker but, I like the single stage press because it is not a...

What powder measure do you use?

I am now using an RCBS Chargemaster Lite and a GemPro 250 (recently replaced under warranty) to check the RCBS Chargemaster throws. The RCBS Chargemaster Lite has proven to be VERY accurate as verified by my GemPro 250. For backup, I have an RCBS Rangemaster 2000 and a Dandy Omega auto...

    Reloader 17 for 7mm-08

Tecumseh, I've had to hard to finding some Ramshot powders here in OK. I use Ramshot Big Game for my 9.3x62 (and soon for 7mm-08) and TAC for my 358 Win. I just picked up a pound of Hunter that was the last one at the store. I'm looking for another pound or two of Big Game. I will try and...

    Reloader 17 for 7mm-08

I've not used Reloder 17 in my Tikka T3 7-08 but I'm am getting ready to try Ramshot Big Game with 140 grain Trophy Bonded Tip's and Ramshot Hunter under 160 grain Sierra GameKings. I will be using Western's published data. I am especially interested in getting to the range with the 160 SGK's...

    Browning BLR 358 Win loads

I initially had decent (actually good) results using TAC with 225 gr. NP's with Winchester WLR primers in my Ruger M77 358 Win. However, I've since had issues trying to duplicate the accuracy of the load in subsequent range sessions. I'm in the process of trying a slightly reduced load of TAC...

    Bullet Wish List 2018

I would hope that Nosler would start producing their 250 grain .366 Accubonds on a more consistent basis. I've been waiting on them to hit the shelves for well over a year now. If they decide not to produce them more often than every couple of years, then I hope that Sierra will produce a 250...

    Die choices....help.

I reload for 10 different rifle calibers and have RCBS, Redding and Lee dies. The last few die sets I've purchased have been Lee's. They are economical, easy to set up and use, and are capable of making some very accurate ammo. The Lee's ultimate die set that I use for my 6.5 CM is top notch...

    Pop's old 348

I agree, it is a very special rifle, or at least, it would be in my family. I would leave it as close to original as possible and certainly keep as many of your Pop's "enhancements" as you can.. Shoot it, hunt with it, and pass it on. Looks like a great little rifle.

Which rifles are on your wish list?

The only hole in my humble collection of rifles that I need (or want) to fill is a 22 long rifle of some kind. In my younger years (now 66 years old) I had a Browning 22 lever action. I so wish I hadn't sold it.

    Copper cleaning

I use Kroil to remove copper and lead deposits when cleaning my rifle barrels. I usually spray Kroil down the barrel and let it sit for 15 minutes or so before doing a normal cleaning. If I still see deposits after a few passes with a brush and patches, I add JB to patches soaked in Kroil on a...

    one rifle/four continents/ twelve animals

Great story and thread! If I were guessing, I would probably say 9.3x62 Mauser using either a 286 grain Woodleigh Weldcore or Nosler Partition. If it were me hunting the same game, I would probably take my Ruger M77 358 Win loaded with a stout load of TAC under a 225 grain Nosler Partition...
