    New Ruger made Marlins

Congrats! I wish they would have ditched the cross bolt safety, but still a nice looking rifle.

    338-06 bullet selection

Once I tried the 210 Partition in my .338/06 I never bothered to try another bullet, great accuracy and outstanding performance. I used IMR 4350 and WLR primers in Winchester .30/06 brass.

    Thompson Contender

I have 4 Contender frames and a few barrels, the .30-30AI is a particular favorite and I have both 10 and 12" barrels. I also have .30 Herrett and .30-30 Winchester barrels as well as a .45/70 and I have had several other barrels over the years. I also shoot Encore pistols in .218 Bee, 6mm-284...

    green mountian barrels

I have one now chambered in 7x57 it's going on a 1908 Brazilian Mauser that will be my new deer rifle, patterned after an early commercial Mauser sporter. I'm doing all the work myself on the barrel so if it doesn't shoot it won't be a huge hit.

    Maybe coming back?

Our local powder supply is pretty good, still no Varget though.

    Your "Best" Big Game Animal

Wow, good thread! Some great trophies and stories. This is my "best" trophy. This buck commemorated my 50th. year of deer hunting in 2012, the only seasons I have missed were when I was out of the country working for Uncle Sam. I first went deer hunting with my dad at the ripe old age of 4, I...

    2014 Hunting Pictures

That one is a .30-30 AI shooting the 125 grain Ballistic Tip in front of 33.0 grains of IMR 4198 for 2600 at the muzzle. The deer in the first picture was a high lung shot at 88 yards and the wet one was heart shot at 129 yards. The little bullet works very well at that velocity I think, I would...

    7mm Mashburn Super Magnum

Art Mashburn was ahead of his time I think. There was another version of the 7mm Mashburn on the full length H&H case but the powders of the day weren't slow enough to take advantage of the extra capacity. IIRC H4831 was the slowest burning stuff they had back then. One of these days I would...

    Ackley Improved

My favorite of all the AI designs, I just gave one of my grandsons my 94 Winchester so chambered and I have a couple of Contender barrels running it too. I have a 336 Marlin that is going to become an AI in the near future. The best improvement for me is case life, no more trimming every other...

    IMR 4831 and IMR 4350

I have been loading both of those powders for years and I have never had any noticeable problems with either one. I do try to do my load developement in hot weather so there won't be any pressure problems but accuracy wise I have never noticed a difference. I think the temperature sensitivity...

    7mm Mashburn Super Magnum

Mine will be an 8 twist Sendero contour, I went with an X-Caliber barrel, Prices are reasonable and right now the lead time is great. I have been reading good reports about these barrels, they seem to be very well made, time will tell I guess.

    7mm Mashburn Super Magnum

I don't have the data in front of me right now but my 7mm RM likes Retumbo and 160 grain Accubonds very well, I suspect the Mashburn will respond to it also. I got a call on my barrel today and was quoted a 4 week delivery, I also added an inch to it :).

    2014 Hunting Pictures

Congrats to all the successful hunters! I got a couple of does this year during alternative weapons season with my Contender. I actually shot both of these deer within a few seconds of each other but between the time I got the first one out of the woods and went back for #2 it started...

    7mm Mashburn Super Magnum

I hope so. I am anxious to get it up and running. Have you tried 7828 in your Mashburn yet? It seems to be pretty commonly available and I have seen a lot of good reports on it in the Mashburn. I am in the same boat as you are with H1000, down to a couple of pounds. I'm hoping for good results...

    7mm Mashburn Super Magnum

Congratulations! Looks like you are getting excellent results and hit your numbers with no trouble. From all I have read and seen this seems to be typical Mashburn performance, that is what got me excited about the project when I started on it. I got to looking at those 175 grain ABLRs that...

    7mm Mashburn Super Magnum

Looks like the Boo Boo has a little less capacity than the Mashburn, the numbers still look pretty good though. I got interested in this cartridge when Warren Page's rifles came up for auction a few years ago, Mr. Page was very fond of the Mashburn and is reported to have taken over 700 head...

    7mm Mashburn Super Magnum

Scotty, The brass I had trouble with is Winchester, newer stuff, the primer pockets were shallow. To size for the initial fire form I run new unlubed Winchester cases into the full length sizer, load and shoot them. With new WW Super brass, trimmed to 2.600" (trim length is 2.625 I believe) and...

    .28 Nosler...

I'd be pretty keen on the .36, I imagine the 286 grain Partition would be some serious medicine!
