I loaded up a couple rounds to try with a 140 grain hornady bthp, Winchester brass and wlrm primer. 60 grains is what I tried initially and only got in the high 2700 fops range. It was noticeably less recoil and noise compared to my usual loads using supreme 780, reloader 17, 22 and 4451. The...
I've had good luck with H4895, varget, cfe223 and AA2230. Hard to say which is best as I shoot a lot of different bullet weights out of different rifles. I have probably used AA2230 the most with 55 grainers.
I had that happen with federal 270 wsm ammo, but the ejector marks were very deep and I also had stiff bolt lift. It also caused brass to shave off in my chamber which led to chambering issues. I thought there was something wrong with my rifle for a few months until I shone a flashlight into the...
I haven't owned a .280 but had a mountain rifle in 30/06. It shot ok groups, never great and it kicked like a mule. I hated the way the bolt didn't lock down and eventually the accurracy became terrible and the stock cracked. I ended up selling it and bought an x bolt. The x bolt shoots better...
I used to own a model 700 mountain rifle in 30/06 that would not shoot any boat tail bullet! No problems with flat base bullets though. I spent countless hours at the range attemting to get it to shoot a boat tail though!
I used it with a 65 grain sierra bullet with decent results, but having trouble remembering my charge right now. I know it was close to max though and shot pretty good last year, but when I went to check the same load this year it didn't shoot nearly as well and i switched over to varget. I...
I shot an average size whitetail buck about 150lbs dressed a few years ago with a 100 grain partition out of my 243 wssm at about 40 yards. The deer was quartering away from me and i put the bullet right behind the front shoulder. The bullet didn't exit and I never did find it, but the deer...
I just picked up my first lever a mint model 94 built in '78 in 30-30 . I don't think it was ever fired! I'm gonna keep it original and just use the open sights. I already love it and can't believe I waited this long to get a lever!
Just saw this on Facebook that winchester will be releasing something new tomorrow! I wonder what it could be? A new line of shotguns? Maybe a budget rifle to compete with the ruger American? Can't wait to find out!
I haven't really played around with the COL that much, but maybe it is the solution. I am kind of frustrated with it for the time being so will leave things alone for now and try again later.
I am positive there is nothing wrong with the gun itself as everything else shoots fine! The barrel has been cleaned after every range session as well. The bullets are not seconds and shot well out of my old rifle which was a M77 II with a 12 twist. The new rifle is a model 77 predator which has...
Haven't called them, but maybe I should! The funny thing about these bullets though is that they shot well out of my old rifle, it's just this rifle that won't shoot them. I'm at a total loss to explain what has been happening?
