    .280 Rem. Mountain Rifle

Since a .280 Remington will flatten ANY moose that ever walked on the isle of Newfoundland: it would certainly be nice to know how the hunt went. ????

    Cancer Update

Don, Very sorry to hear about this....... however I will share some lite on this situation. I myself have been down the colon cancer trail...... in spring of 2024 during a Cat scan they saw spots that looked concerning...... after testing 3 places it was confirmed they were cancer..... After a...

    Use of lead sleds

A lead sled; with the appropriate amount of WEIGHT, plus a PAST shoulder pad, will tame even a 458 WM to a manageable recoil. It is common knowledge amongst guides; that most guys claim to be able to shoot their big magnum rifle all day without flinching. In reality 99.9% of folks always shoot...

Are the .358 200gr Accubonds really gone?

JD, I will have to find it again, but I am sure In a past posting I referenced the article; and the study was described in great detail. It was an opener, for sure as we all have a certain brand of bullets we like, luv, or believe in . However if you fall into a person that believes in high...

Are the .358 200gr Accubonds really gone?

Another side note: The Speer 250 came out on 'top of the list' from a study done in Canadian guides about 20 years ago, on Moose killed with 35 caliber rifles. So the terminal performance of that bullet collected from hundreds of Moose, simply put to bed any theories that a better bullet for...

    Night force. NX8 vs Leupold

Well like Don, I have owned a bunch of Leupold scopes since the 1970's. I always thought their III series were good value and still have some 1.5/5 models on "Woods Guns". I recently had need for a lower power "big field of view" scope for a low end rifle and did NOT want to spend $800 to go...

    Nahum Takes a Moose

Well here we are years later, guess he is in his mid 20's now. I am pretty sure who is still his hero for starting him out hunting, all those years ago. You have certainly touched many lives here over the years, and should be very proud of yourself! 🙏 E

    6.5x55 does it again...on a 10 pt

When the talk turns to Whitetails or Mulies, the 6.5x55 usually always surfaces, to have stood the test of time. With it's lighting fast kills, and no recoil; it must rank up as one of the greatest deer calibers. Congrats on your lovely buck E

Hunting optics, What do you use?

I have a bunch of Zeiss scopes that are cornerstones to compare most other under $1000 scopes to. I have a few high end Leupolds and a few middle of road ones. I have to say back a few years ago when you could buy S1 Sightrons for $100 they are great value to have on lower priced guns. The...
