Savage 99 Results

That is a beloved caliber with Maine Guides in 1950/60 era. Most settled on 150gr for Whitetails. The reason the trigger seams sooooo good is that on the early models the trigger is COMPLETELY different animal than the post 100xxxxxx guns. Very easy to adjust them down with a stone for WOP and remove all creep by simply shortening the the top of sear. Yours has obviously been in to a competent gunsmith at some point........ sound like you got a Dandy
Good Luck with it

This has got mind spinning on my Sav 99 - 300 Sav. I have a VXII 3x9x40 sitting on top. I’ve got plenty of factory CoreLokt 150 boxes but would like to load up something in the 125gn.

I think it’s pretty amazing that we see the Sav 99 still popping up in the forum every once in a while still. A CLASSIC !
Try the 125gr AB

Excellent reloading work (as usual) Fotis. Those 99's just handle so well. Be hard not to enjoy hunting with one. Cant get the nice groups out of my friends 99, but still so much fun to shoot! Enjoy!CL

My great uncle worked up a load for 300 Savage many moons ago that seemed to work well in most 99s...150gr Sierra SP over IMR3031, tack puncher at 100yrd (watched my father do just that) and deer that look like they were hit by a car when dressed.

His 99 now resides with me...I may carry it next season...
