All I ever use for elk, deer and moose BigBear is a 270 win. I load it with 130 gr. combine technology with 45 gr. of IMR 4064 powder and wincherter primers and I have no troubles bringing down any game here in Alberta.

when im out in the bush with lots of trees and shrubs i like to have my scope set for 4x but if im out on open range I usally crank up the zoom to 6x to 7x but like you said theres no right way its all on what the person likes.

I plan on using 338 WM brass. The guy I got the rifle from said to use that he said that i could use 7mm RM brass but he did not recomended it.
