Hello folks I am new to this form. I have a custom made 30-338 rifle I bought a few months back I have no books on loads and dimensions for bullet length for this caliaber.

Welcome, I had a 308 Norma Magnum which is only slightly longer in the shoulder than your 30-338, you should be able to work up from 308 Norma data and come close to max loads listed for it. Great round you have there btw, are you going to use 338 WM or 7mm RM brass for your loads?

Hodgdon has 308 Norma Magnum data:

Very cool old round!

I haven't seen one of those in about 15 years... Should be a very accurate rifle. Like Gerry say's, look up .308 Norma load data - it's pretty much the same cartridge.

Welcome to the forum.
The 30-338 is a cool round.
Maybe one of the fellas will run Quick Load for you.

I have a couple 30-338's. What bullets are you wanting to shoot?

R-19 and 4350 works really well with light bullets and R-22 work good with heavier bullets.

i had a 30-338 built last year, i use a norma case 70g 4831 federal 215 gold medal and a berger 190 vld .003 off the lands. velocity is right at 2970 14 feet from the oehler chronograph. i think you will like this you will find faster magnums out there but i doubt you will find one more consistant.

The one thing I should have also mentioned is that some of the older data is HOT so be careful. I found Hodgdons loads to be quite reasonable compared to say Hornady and Speer. The load usmc 89 listed sounds pretty good IIRC. Like was mentioned earlier Quickload might be a good help for you. IMR 4350 and MRP worked great for me If I had one now H 4350, IMR4350 and H 4831sc would get the nod.

What bullet and powder are you thinking of using?

Here is some data with the 180 AB and IMR 4350:

Cartridge : .30/338 Win. Mag.
Bullet : .308, 180, Nosler AccuBond 54825
Useable Case Capaci: 75.100 grain H2O = 4.876 cm³
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 3.340 inch = 84.84 mm
Barrel Length : 24.0 inch = 609.6 mm
Powder : IMR 4350

I plan on using 338 WM brass. The guy I got the rifle from said to use that he said that i could use 7mm RM brass but he did not recomended it.

Thanks guys for the information and Drmike I will get back to you on a load here when i get done school here I am just finishing up my mechanics school so I am hoping to get some time to get playing with this gun. I am also wondering were to get some dies for it and who might have some for sale?

I have used .264 win. mag, 7mm rem. mag, and .338 win mag brass for the various .30-.338 rifles I've had. I try to use Winchester brand over Remington. For heavy bullets I'd use 4350, R-19, 4831, or R-22.
