    More on the 300gr partition

Can you imagine the backlash if they discontinued the Partition/Accubond and E-Tip for all other calibers and only left the Ballistic Tip as a choice for bullets?????? Rather than adding the Ballistic Tip to the line of bullets for leverguns, they discontinued the Partition and gave us...

Just what is this new .458/300 grain RN/CT bullet?

So do you have to load it down and stay away from 450 Marlin velocities?Factory 45-70-300 grain ammo runs about 1880 fps while 300 grain 450 Marlin velocities run more like 2350 fps. Thanks..Jayco

Just what is this new .458/300 grain RN/CT bullet?

This is the old Partition Gold by Winchester and supposedly combined with and designed by Nosler as a Combined Technology bullet?.I probably am wrong but that is what my old memory is trying to tell me. Anyway,it was also a tried and proven bullet labeled a Combined Technology bullet...

Just what is this new .458/300 grain RN/CT bullet?

Howdy JD..My question was, what is the difference between the new one and the old?Winchester used to load a 300 grain CT bullet in there ammunition which was listed as a Combined technology bullet yet everyone said it was the Nosler PP.I do not know as I did not see that ammo or bullet. Is this...

Just what is this new .458/300 grain RN/CT bullet?

I am curious to what this new bullet actually is compared to the old reliable 300 grain Protected Point. How about a construction comparison. Is it the same as the old Combined Technology bullet used in Winchester 45-70 ammo? How does it improve on this Nosler reply on the old one? Jayco

I know they are not coming back but.........

I have been a Nosler man from day one going back to almost when it was first made..I shoot nothing but Nosler bullets and have a reputation on the Internet for just that. Some good some bad but it is the net.... When I first bought the 45-70,the 300 Nosler was my first order for reloading as...

I have to say I am alittle disappointed Nosler will not answer on there own forum first. You have to read it somewhere else like I did when Nosler answered an e-mail to someone asking the same question we asked.. The answer was No sales.... Disappointed Jayco

    45-70 300 gr PT Discontinued!

No..You guys can't take the Nosler choice away from all the 45-70/450 Marlin shooters out there...I have bragged them up for years and now your putting them out to pasture? Shame on Nosler. Why did you choose to do this?Sales I assume..Atleast come up with an alternative for the .458...

    Magnum Research BFR S/A`s

I have yet to shoot any 300 grain bullets.I have only shot the 420 cast at 1560 fps and 1400 fps and a 525 grain cast that is 1515 fps in my Guide Gun and 1300 fps in the 7.5" BFR. Recoil on the faster loads is fairly stout mostly because of the hard rubber grips that come standard on the...

    Magnum Research BFR S/A`s

I have the 7.5" BFR in 45-70.It is the most accurate handgun I own.I also have the 454 Casull and my goal with the BFR was to match 454 Casull velocities with the 45-70 and a heavier bullet.Easily done. The 420 cast I load in the 45-70 Guide Gun at 1866 fps(60 degree's) clocks 1560 fps in the...

NOSLER - Anything New for the 45-70?

If 1 or 2 Elk in a lifetime is experience, then I guess he has it.His last bash of the Nosler PP was on the temp forum saying it was a poorly constructed bullet and to light. Some people with typing skills make things sound different than they really are.Sometimes I think he does it just to get me...

Deer load for the Marlin 1895

Joe-Safe load according to Hodgdons. On the old Marlin Talk a fella loaded the 300 Nosler PP to 2282 fps in a Guide Gun with "H-4198" Starline Nickel brass and I forget the primer. He got such a rash of poop from changing componants from Hodgdons data,He e-mailed Hodgdons and called them and the...

NOSLER - Anything New for the 45-70?

Hi Pop-I am in the process of re-doing it because I scoped my Guide Gun.Depending on brass used,My first load was 57 grains of RL-7 in Winchester brass for 2300 fps in 70 degree temp and 2068 fps in 45/50 degree weather. I use Starline brass now and I expect about 54+ grains for about the same...

NOSLER - Anything New for the 45-70?

I have asked this before and there stickin to the 300 grain. A 350 grain Nosler would be the ticket in the 45-70 and be real competition to the 350 Swift A-Frame and the 350 North Fork not to mention the 350 Woodleigh. With the 45-70 Cowboy version(26 inch barrel) and the new XLR(24...

Conflicking stories on the .458 Protected point by Nosler!

mshaffer-When the 45-70 or the 450 Marlin are loaded to there potential, it is "over" the recommended velocities of the 300 grain Nosler. The following data done by Rick Jaimison handloading the 450 Marlin with a test barrel. As you can see at 2488 fps in a 24 inch barrel. Now if you use the Cowboy...

Conflicking stories on the .458 Protected point by Nosler!

I run my 300 Noslers at 2100 fps( I had to slow it down to match my other loads) in my Guide Gun.I was asking for another who is cautious in his reloading.I know the Winchester 300 grain CB Partiton Gold doesn't run that fast out of factory ammo and was curious about the regular Partition at...
